The Emilia- Romagna region is known as “the Food Valley” because it boasts over 40 products among PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and PGI (Protected Geographical Indication).
Numerous famous products of the area are the “salumi” (charcuterie) such as Parma Ham, Mortadella, Culatello, Cotecchino, Zampone and Salame. If you want to go behind the scenes and discover the world of these Emilian delicacies, this experience is for you.
The experience starts at MuSa: the Museum of Charcuterie in the town of Castelnuovo Rangone, situated in the flatlands surrounding Modena, a medieval town rendered famous for its delicious food and fast cars. The museum is owned by Villani Salumi, a family company and one of Emilia-Romagna’s longest standing charcuterie makers that exports its products all over the globe.
In this exclusive experience, you will learn first-hand all about the history of the charcuterie craftsmanship and the current production methods, the result of hundreds of years of tradition and expertise.
You will also participate in a delicious tasting session. You will try a variety of Italian salumi: prosciutto crudo, cooked ham, mortadella, and salami, all accompanied by Lambrusco Grasparossa wine sourced from the nearby hills of Castelvetro.
After the museum visit, you will head to your Cesarina’s home to enjoy a Cooking Class where you will learn to prepare 3 local recipes (starter, pasta and dessert) from scratch with your Cesarina and discover the secrets of regional Emilian cuisine. You will taste everything you’ve prepared, accompanied by carefully selected local wines.
