Visit of Acetaia and typical dining experience in Modena

Location:Modena, Bologna
Duration:3.5 hours
Experience:Private
durationlunches & dinners

Welcome to Modena, home of the world-famous "aceto balsamico".

If you're visiting Modena on your Italy trip, you have probably thought about visiting a Balsamic vinegar factory. But did you know that the tradition can be found closer to home? The tradition of the 'acetaia' still lives on in Modenese families, so if you're after the real thing, you've come to the right place.

Our Cesarina will welcome you into her home in the centre of Modena, where you will enjoy a wonderful homemade lunch or dinner. First, however, it's time to see where the magic happens. Climb up to the attic room full of ageing barrels, the air thick with the smell of balsamic vinegar. As the balsamic evaporates and concentrates, its heady aroma hangs in the air and coats every surface of the room, it’s a truly amazing scent! This is a unique chance to learn how real locals live and breathe this amazing tradition every day.

After the visit of the “Acetaia” you will enjoy an Aperitivo with sparkling wine and nibbles followed by a four-course traditional lunch or dinner, including starter, pasta, main course with side dish, dessert accompanied by a fine selection of local wines and a lot of Balsamic vinegar!

An unforgettable experience for curious food lovers looking for deep insight into Modenese life.

Tasty home style meal
We learned to prepare a Catanian home style meal. From scratch: ravioli pasta, tomato sauce, filling for the ravioli, and, of course, wine!
