Abundance is everything: take a seat and indulge in fried seafood and second helpings of spaghetti con le vongole, breathing in the heady aroma of rum babà and sfogliatelle.
I live in the hills of Naples looking out over the gulf! I learned to cook thanks to my Mamma, my Mamma’s aunt Mimi, and my aunt Luciana. Mamma, Mimi and Luciana were my ‘teachers’, both in life and in cooking. I loved watching them cook as I learned how to make their signature dishes… Mimi was a master of fried food, Mamma made the best “minestra maritata” soup, and Luciana made the best “Tortano” bread.
For a challenge. I wanted to put the skills as a host and cook I’ve learned throughout my whole life to the test. I really care about keeping Napoli’s traditions alive in my family, and with our many guests.
I hosted a lovely English couple last year. It turned out the boyfriend had organised this experience as a birthday surprise, and she had no idea that she’d be spending an evening in a local home! We had the best evening ever.
We all cooked together with my family and sang happy birthday, they told us their stories of their travels, as they were touring Italy by van. It was such a wonderful evening and when they left they told me that it had been “a true welcome into the heart of Naples”. That’s exactly what I love to share the most, so I was really touched.
Because Campania is not the place most people think, the people here have an extraordinary heart and sense of welcome. Here, the countryside is breathtaking, and you can take routes with fantastic panoramas. We care about producing the best simple and genuine produce, because that’s what makes our cuisine so unique. You never get bored of the food in Naples.
