Wat een geweldige middag hebben wij gehad. Gelijk bij binnenkomst voel je de hartelijkheid en gastvrijheid op je af komen. Een heerlijk aperitief stond al klaar met een groot bord lekkere hapjes. Daarna de keuken in om zowel knodels als een apfelstrudel te maken. Met haar hartelijkheid voel je je meteen thuis, ze weet haar brede kennis goed over te brengen en ook de herkomst van de gerechten te vermelden. We hebben gesmuld en gingen blij en voldaan weer naar huis. Zou zeker nog eens een workshop bij haar willen volgen.

Gerti’s cooking class was above & beyond ! She loves to cook & it shows. There were 7 of us and she handled making dumplings & the strudel like it was nothing. Lots of great tips, we all jumped in to do various tasks. She was right there supervising. We were an English speaking group but she kept up with us & btw had friend David & daughterAnna answering questions. Provided us with additional foods..appetisers, chutney’s cheese plates, salads, breads, desserts. Proseco, wine etc. Many courses, many great cultural discussions. She was just plain terrific! We learned more than food about Italy & Germany. And David who specializes in making pizza as a hobby was fun & knowledgeable to talk with as well. I was annoyed we had to travel so far for a cooking class..why aren’t there more people offering to show us what they can do culinarywise in Siusa or Castelrotto? Very much needed..And btw the food was delicious!

That was an unforgettable culinary trip in South Tyrol (Merano) with Gerti! We could choose what to cook; Gerti contacted us in advance to find out our preferences, what we would like to drink, and if we had any food restrictions. Everything was taken into account! We prepared Apfelstrudel and beetroot knodel as the main dishes. Additionally, we learned how to cook asparagus served with local cheese. Gerti also showed us the best bruschetta options and some other dishes she enjoys cooking herself, which she shared with us. The workshop was fabulous, and we definitely want to return!

Gerta provided a most wonderful experience from a delicious aperatif to how to make beet dumplings, asparagus side dish, and apple strudel. We loved her kind welcoming home instruction and are ready to make the dishes now when we get back home!
