Hi from Anna!

We are at the gates of Assisi, a city of profound peace and spirituality. The historical city center sits isolated atop a hill, surrounded by meadows and woods. Here, in the “green heart of Italy,” as Umbria is known, we are welcomed by Cesarina Anna. Her table is always ready to welcome guests and Anna is always ready to delight them with her cooking. Anna’s experience in the kitchen began when she was a child, at around 8 years old. Her grandmother and mother were both professional cooks, so she grew up in a family where food was considered an element not only of sustenance, but also of joy. Cooking for Anna does not only mean reliving her childhood, but also experimenting with the recipes that have been handed down to her, constantly reworking them to express her creativity. It is an art that she finds gratifying because "preparing good food makes others happy."

We highly recommend cooking with Anna. Anna and her husband made us feel so welcome in their home. The food was delicious and the conversation was fun (we don’t speak Italian but their English was good enough to make delightful conversation).

The pasta and tiramisu class with Anna was probably the top highlight of our trip! Anna and her husband welcomed us into their home and treated us like royalty! Besides the two pasta dishes and tiramisu, Anna treated us to four different types of bruschetta, a farro salad and a digestive she had made herself! I highly recommend this experience!

Our cooking class with Anna and her family exceeded all expectations. Right from the start, we felt welcome in their home. We got a deep and authentic experience, and loved learning about traditional Umbrian cooking and customs. We enjoyed bruschetta, two types of pasta with two homemade sauces, and tiramisu. All simply delicious! And, as a bonus, the eggs and tomatoes came from their home. When we asked about local olive oil producers, they immediately called their neighbor who presses his own olives. The neighbor shortly arrived at their house with a container of olive oil for us! Thanks so much to your family for giving us an experience that you don’t get on the typical tourist trail!
