Hi from Paola!

I bring to the table dishes from three borders: Austria, Slovenia, and Italy. From my birth family, typical peasant dishes of Friulian tradition like frico, dishes with vegetables from the garden that follow the seasons, or artisan cured meats (my husband is a charcuterie enthusiast). Steaming polenta also accompanies game dishes such as wild boar or roe deer. From my husband's family, I learned more Nordic and Slavic traditions like sauerkraut, goulash, and potica. I also enjoy working with sourdough to prepare bread and focaccia.

My husband and I had an enchanting day (from 10 am to mid afternoon) with Paola, her husband and her daughter, Elisa, who translated for us. We were treated with warmth and made to feel like family. Paola took us to her garden, which was the source of some of the ingredients - zucchini blossoms, tomatoes, thyme and basil. We prepared delicious pasta dishes in her well equipped kitchen, and enjoyed learning new techniques. The food was fabulous, and the conviviality of the company equally memorable. At the table, in addition to the food we prepared together, we were offered generous and tasty selections of cold meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables, prosecco, wine and coffee. All in all a wonderful experience.

Abbiamo avuto un'esperienza meravigliosa con Paola e Loris. Sono stati ospitali e cordiali e abbiamo condiviso tante risate. Il cibo era delizioso ed è stato interessante imparare come si prepara la cucina friulana. Speriamo di tornare presto! We had a wonderful experience with Paola and Loris. They were very hospitable and friendly and we shared many laughs. The food was delicious and it was interesting to learn how Friulian cuisine is prepared. We hope to be back soon!

What a wonderful afternoon! We enjoyed our lunch with Paola immensely. She and her husband were so kind and welcoming to us, especially with our young children in tow. Her friend also joined us to help translate. The food and hospitality was incredible. We feel lucky to have spent an afternoon with Paola and would highly recommend this experience.

What for a great event! Paola and her husband, supported by their neighbour Alessandra, offered us a delicious dinner. Cured meat and cheese as starter, zucchini gnocchi, frico and tiramisu: it has been an extraordinary dinner of local taste. We felt warmly welcomed like friends! What an amazing day. We had the best day of our lives! Paola and Luis were exceptional hosts who made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. Lara our interpreter and a friend of their daughter, was so helpful and friendly. We had fun in the kitchen preparing a three course meal which was fantastic.
