Next, we’ll stroll along Corso Umberto, stopping at “Al Tagliere”, a charming shop full of local Sicilian specialties, and then visit “Gusto”, a small market known for high-quality vegetables, cured meats, and traditional preserves. Our final stop? My home kitchen, where we’ll roll up our sleeves and make fresh pasta together — like garganelli or busiate — from scratch. - Last week, I very last minute booked a cooking workshop with Maria Rita with my husband & parents. And it was truly a-ma-zing! Maria Rita is a beautiful, genuine person, very approachable and a wonderful chef. We immediately felt right at home. I made a request and so she taught us no less than 3 (or actually 4!) typical Sicilian dishes including pizza Margherita, 2 types of pasta with a delicious pistachio pesto and cannoli 🤤 My husband, parents and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can’t wait to get started myself with all these delicious dishes! 😍 If you have even a slight passion for cooking I say DO IT!

She gave us options about what we wanted to make. She made sure we were all comfortable and happy. Maria was also hysterical, I spent half the night laughing. Making pasta is not always easy but Maria made sure to help when it was needed and never moved too fast. Maria, was full of life and made this experience unforgettable. This was hands down my favorite activity during my 2 week trip to Europe! If I ever come back to Syracuse, I will make sure to take another one of Maria's classes!
- Our traditional cooking class was a wonderful experience. Maria Rita presented the class in a fun and educational way capturing the taste of true Sicilian cuisine. The experience felt like eating a meal prepared with love between friends. Maria Rita was generous it what was offered as well as opening her home up to make this a truly authentic experience. I highly recommend this class.
