Your experience

Stroll through the historic alleys of Modica, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and discover the town’s rich flavors and stunning Baroque beauty. We'll taste Modica’s famous chocolate, rooted in Spanish tradition, while admiring scenic views. You’ll sample local cheeses like ricotta and caciocavallo, try traditional “scacce” (stuffed flatbreads, Sicily’s original street food), and, in summer, enjoy a refreshing granita with its iconic brioche. We’ll finish with the legendary ‘mpanatigghia—a spiced chocolate cookie praised by writer Leonardo Sciascia. A delicious way to explore Modica’s history, one bite at a time.

Cooking class with Isabella was such a tremendous highlight of the time my son and I spent in Sicily. Isabella's house in the countryside has many fruit trees and a wonderful herb garden, and she took great pleasure in teaching us about the local food culture. Isabella was very generous with her time, accommodated our interests, and taught us recipes as we cooked together. Finally we shared a wonderful dinner with her family - yes, it was a cooking class, but really it was also sharing a dinner with family in someone's beautiful home - a wonderful travel experience. Thank you!

Isa was very friendly, informative, and accommodating. She knew MODICA like the back of her hand. We explored the backstreet of this beautiful baroque historic center. And the places that she brought us to authentic, artisanal, and delicious! I recommend her 1000%!

My kitchen is truly the heart of the home — it's where my family gathers to celebrate everyday life, traditions, and special moments. It's a bright and welcoming space, filled with memories, books, handcrafted objects, and the scents of Sicily: aromatic herbs, vegetables from our garden, local wines, ceramics, and family photos. We welcome our guests with the flavors of tradition: homemade ricotta ravioli with meat and sausage sauce, sourdough bread made with ancient Sicilian grains, and Modica’s typical street food — such as scacce, scifiteddi, pastieri, and buccatedde — served with our own olives, fresh ricotta from nearby farms, classic arancini, and a special caponata. There’s also a personal touch: Bergamo-style polenta with Sicilian meat sauce — a flavorful mix that tells the story of our family’s journey away from and back to Sicily. Everything is made with local, seasonal, and genuine ingredients — many of which we grow or produce ourselves: stone-ground flours, olive oil from our trees, eggs from our hens, and fresh herbs and vegetables picked straight from our garden. And above all, there’s the love and passion passed down from my mother and grandmother.
