I am Mauro, a passionate Venetian chef, and I am delighted to take you to a unique tour of the Rialto Market, in the very heart of Venice.
We will start by exploring its charming and colourful stands. Fruits, vegetables, fish, spices... immerse yourself in the vibrant and magical atmosphere of the market, while enjoying its scents, its history (which I will tell you about) and the friendliness of the people who work there.
At the end of our tour, I will welcome you to my home for a typical aperitivo veneziano! We'll toast with two glasses of wine and I'll serve you our famous Cicchetti, delicious bites typical of Venice, whose recipes I'll share with you! You will look forward to preparing them at home and impress your future guests!

- My friends and I had the best time cooking with Mauro! He shared lots of Venetian culture and history with us, had great conversation, and the food we made was so delicious. We made tagliatelle and ravioli, and were also served an aperitivo and dessert. He was very accommodating and went above and beyond for us. - Mauro is an excellent chef and he enjoys talking about the food, the ingredients, the herbs and seasonings, and the why's for using them in the way that he does. He also was happy to share about his city, Venice, and why he loves it there, his history with living there, and the issues the city faces. He was very friendly and made us feel very much at home. His home is charming and the setting for dinner was lovely and cozy. He worked with our food intolerances and dislikes and provided a fabulous menu! The drinks, dinner, and dessert were outstanding! - The whole experience was fabulous. Mauro was charming, interesting and a consummate host - even waiting outside his apartment building (an old palazzo) for me to arrive. He is an incredible cook and he had sourced beautiful fresh produce - vegetables, herbs and seafood, for the meal. He produced six courses, each one superb, from cichetti to dessert, and provided lots of useful instruction about cooking techniques and particular Venetian eating traditions. The accompanying drinks were perfect. I was so glad I booked this experience and would do it again in a heartbeat. Well worth the cost and a very special experience. Thank you so much Mauro!
- Our dining experience with Mauro in his home in Venice was absolutely exceptional and a highlight of our vacation in Italy. When we arrived at his home we were warmly greeted and Mauro shared his personal story with us which made us feel both welcome and even more excited of what was to come. He then told us about how dinner would proceed and the menu which he had chosen. Now even more excited. Joining Mauro in his kitchen, watching and learning about the preparation was really fabulous. All his ingredients were local and fresh and the seafood bought that morning in the Venice fish market. We are from the U.S. and my favorite hobby is saltwater fishing and I prepare and cook my catch. But on this night I learned more about seafood preparation and cooking techniques then I would have ever imagined. The anchovy on a slice of boiled egg appetizer was delicious. My wife is more particular about eating seafood, and typically an anchovy would be way too strong for her to enjoy. These anchovies were so fresh and mild it blew our minds. Mauro prepared scampi and shrimp in 3 different ways and each was exceptional and a great teaching moment for me . The fresh pasta dish was delicious and again I learned several key techniques from Mauro in the preparation process that I will be able to use at home. Prior to starting the prep and cooking, Mauro told us he liked to keep things simple and use only fresh ingredients. He said keeping it simple was important to him so that all his customers would be to duplicate, share and enjoy at home. After the dining experience I even more appreciated his simple technique and passion for sharing with others. We felt very fortunate to have booked with Mauro, as it was a very unique and wholly satisfying experience. And most of all we felt like we had just made a new friend in Italy.
