    In this cooking class, we will learn together how to make a traditional recipe, a simple dish that is rich in flavor. It is prepared with stale bread softened in boiled chickpea broth, enriched with sautéed onion in plenty of extra virgin olive oil with the addition of sweet paprika.

    It is a home-style recipe, one of those that smell of love and tradition, just like my grandmother used to make, capable of transforming a few simple ingredients into authentic comfort food. You will also taste typical local products, all accompanied by excellent wine and ending on a sweet note with some almond paste.

    My husband and I had a great time. It was just the 2 of us, Filamena and her delightful daughter. We learned several pasta shapes, 2 sauces, bruschetta, and the most delicious tiramisu. She grows her own herbs, olive oil,the wheat was recently harvested and everything was fresh. She also provided a sampling of fresh local made cheese, meat and red table wine. She told us about the area with love. It was really good. Meeting them and sharing a meal on her terrace was a highlight

    Filomena was an amazing cooking instructor. I felt right at home with her and her family in the kitchen! She showed me so many different techniques for the pasta shapes. Would highly recommend!

    We had a wonderful time with Filomena Cotugno at her cooking class at her lovely home. She was a patient & fun teacher. We made tiramisu & pasta for two dishes. Her daughter was there to help with any language issues & was very sweet. She also provided appetizers & drinks! All of the food we made was excellent & we enjoyed it immensely. Her husband joined us for the meal so it could be a family affair. She shared with us some of her homemade olive oil & limoncello! She even took the time to show us around her beautiful hometown & helped with transportation getting to her house. We would highly recommend Filomena & the Cesarine cooking classes!!

    Big thank you to Filomena and her daughter for a fantastic evening. The cookery class was amazing and we got to learn new skills and tasted foods we had not tried before. We made two types of pasta, tiramisu and bruschetta. Then had the pleasure of eating these with Filomena and her daughter (who was a very good translator- thank you so much!) I would recommend this experience to anyone regardless of any culinary knowledge as Filomena was very generous with her time and talent to help us create wonderful vegetarian food. I’m looking forward to creating these dishes when I get home. This evening has been a highlight of our holiday. Thank you x

    Filomena was an amazing host. 10/10 experience. I ended up being delayed causing me to be late and she was very understanding, even helped with suggesting solutions for transportation. I got to cook and enjoy this experience with her and her daughter. They had welcome snacks, appetizers, wine, and desserts for me. We made several different pasta shapes and 2 different sauces. All the food tasted amazing, and seeing the different teqniques and learning about the ingriedents shows how thre is so much more to cooking Throughout the experience, I was learning so much but also deeply enjoying the experience as a whole as we were all getting to know each other, sharing stories, and enjoying each others presence. I went solo to this experience, and I so welcome and comfortable. While enjoying our courses I felt just like family as we laughed, talked and enjoyed each others company. At the end they offered to show me around their town, and told me about different historic things. I was provided with pictures of us cooking, and being show around. Filomena and her daughter are both wonderful people and amazing cooks. Mettinf them and this experience made my whole entire trip and was truly the highlight. I cannot recommend this experience more, if you are in the Matera area this is a MUST DO! This was the most unforgettable experience that I will cherish forever. I’m so excited to pass on stories about my experience with friends and families, as well as the recipes I was taught!
