We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Katia and Augusto Bonati during a fascinating cooking class that quickly became much more than a lesson—it was an educational, warm, and memorable hospitality experience for our entire family, including our child, who discovered a hidden talent and quickly became a little cooking star. Katia teaches the art of pasta making, which may seem complex at first but becomes surprisingly approachable under her guidance, with truly impressive results. She introduced us to recipes that have been passed down through her family for generations, including erbazzone filled with spinach and ricotta, and tortelli stuffed with a delicious mixture of potatoes, onions, and tomatoes—a flavorful filling reminiscent of a traditional Italian soffritto. For dessert, we learned how to prepare a simple yet delicious tiramisu. It is no surprise that Katia was the runner-up in the World Tiramisu Championship. Throughout the class, we were also accompanied by her husband, Augusto, whose roots run deep in the region. He comes from a family with generations of expertise in prosciutto production and brings decades of knowledge and passion to the experience. What began as a cooking lesson quickly evolved into a genuine hospitality experience, complete with a wonderful meal and countless family stories that offered a glimpse into the traditions and history passed down through generations of both families. The class is suitable for all ages, including children making fresh pasta for the very first time. We left not only with new cooking skills and recipes but also with unforgettable memories of a truly authentic Italian family experience.

Catia and her husband Augusto welcomed us into their home. She prepared a delicious typical Parma meal, including prosciutto and parmigiano cheese in her dishes. Catia showed us how to make tiramisu and then let us help finish making the desert. We had a nice evening with our hosts talking about our cultures and had a few laughs too! The experience was a wonderful way to immerse ourselves into Italian culture. Grazie mille for a memorable evening we’ll never forget!

What a wonderful experience! We felt so welcome — like part of the family. It was more than just a cooking class; it was a true dive into Italian culture, flavors, and hospitality. Unforgettable!

Spending the night in Parma with Gulia, Katia, and Augusto was an unforgettable experience filled with warmth, generosity, and joy. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed into their home as though we were part of the family. We gathered in the kitchen, where laughter mixed with conversation and stories as we prepared tortelli by hand. Between these moments, we paused to enjoy Katia’s homemade snacks, continuing to share the experiences of our cultures. Later, we sat together at the table, savoring the meal we had created, accompanied by glasses of the family’s own wine. Cooking, eating, and talking together felt like stepping into the very heart of Parma, creating memories I will cherish forever.
