I had such a great time! Alessandro was a spectacular host. The conversation and food were great, I would definitely do this again.

We had a wonderful experience at Alessandro’s food course and market tour. We loved visiting the market, where we bought lots of delicious and inexpensive cheese, sausage and jam. At Alessandro’s home we tasted and prepared some local dishes. Alessandro did a great job of making us feel welcome in his home. We would highly recommend this tour to others.

Learning to make 2 absolutely delicious and so simple pasta dishes and a heavenly tiramisu in a friendly informal happy setting is a definite recipe for success! Alessandro thank you for welcoming us into your home and sharing your passion for Italy and its wonderful food! I will recommend this experience to anyone who listens!

Visiting Alessandro and his sons was such a wonderful experience. From the very first moment, we felt genuinely welcome. He kindly picked us up at our hotel and drove us back afterwards. The cooking class was fantastic — we learned how to prepare two pasta dishes and a tiramisu! Alessandro shared family recipes with us, which we can’t wait to try at home. The conversation flowed easily, and the whole evening was truly special. Alessandro was the perfect host, and we feel so lucky to have had this experience. Both Alessandro and his sons were warm, kind, and made us feel completely at home. It was an unforgettable evening and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Bergamo. We truly hope our paths will cross again.

My name is Alessandro Carlini, I was born in Milan in 1961 to parents from Emilia. My father was originally from Sestola, a mountain village in the province of Modena, and he taught me how to make Berlenghi, a typical specialty from that part of the Apennines. These are very thin crêpes made from a simple, liquid batter consisting of water, flour, and salt, which is called "colla." Another specialty from the Modenese Apennines is Crescentine (better known as Tigelle), a small, round type of bread, which, like Berlenghi, are traditionally served with Modenese pesto—a blend of lard, garlic, and rosemary, accompanied by Parmesan cheese. Alternatively, these dishes can be paired with cured meats, cheeses, vegetables, or Nutella for a sweet version.
