Food Tour: discover the best places where to taste the finest local food & wine

Shared Experience
Your experience

We will go together to the weekly market of local producers, located at an old farmhouse about 15 minutes from the center of Bergamo, and buy local cheeses, cold cuts, vegetables and wine. Then we will go to my house, near the market, to taste these specialties, accompanying them with excellent tigelle (a type of small, round-shaped bread) that I will teach you how to prepare and that we will cook at the moment, preceded by mouth-watering fritters enriched with crispy bacon, which will serve as our appetizer. To follow dessert, coffee and various digestifs!

Alessandro is the definition of Italian hospitality. From the moment he picked us up, we truly felt like he adopted us into his family. Being a long-time resident of Bergamo, Alessandro’s passion, historical expertise, and knowledge of culinary traditions are infectious. He taught us how to make different local pasta shapes along with his family’s Ragu, inspired by Emilia Romagna. My favorite were the casoncelli, the most famous pasta in Bergamo. While the food and lessons were amazing, the highlight was spending the entire afternoon with Alessandro (and his two wonderful, hilarious sons!) We shared an epic feast with his family and drank wine and chatted for hours. The class was supposed to be over at 1, but we ended up staying together until nearly 4pm — all just enjoying our time together too much! It was one of the best experiences we’ve had during our travels. We look forward to staying in touch with Alessandro and his family, and can’t wait to come back to visit!

What a lovely way to spend the last day of this holiday. Alessandro was absolutely lovely and very knowledgeable about the delicious food we made. I also met his elder son who is a lovely young gentleman. I am learning Italian and this experience was wonderful as Alessandro kindly allowed me to practice speaking Italian with him. I highly recommend this experience.

We had a fantastic cooking class with Alessandro - who hosted our group of 8 in his lovely apartment. From great local starters to making our own pasta and enjoying an amazing Tiramisu (which is, if you learn the little tricks, remarkably easy!), the whole class was an amazing experience. Alessandro took great care of us and made sure we learn not only about cooking, but also about regional specialities and the Italian culture :) Thanks again for this fantastic time and we will surely cook your recipes again! Ciao e a presto!

Had a wonderful evening with Alessandro and his family! I got to taste and eat delicious Italian specialties (loved the crescentine) and learned how to make tagliatelle. Alessandro is passionate about Italian cooking, it was a true pleasure to discuss and learn. Alessandro and his family made me feel at home. It was an amazing experience that I warmly recommend!

My name is Alessandro. I was born in Milan in 1961 to parents from Emilia. I look forward to welcoming you in the kitchen of my home on the outskirts of Bergamo, where we will prepare and enjoy local specialties together (Scarpinocc, typical Bergamasco ravioli, or Polenta Taragna) as well as dishes from my family tradition (Tagliatelle, Rosette Modenesi, Tigelle). Everything will be preceded by a variety of possible appetizers, including Reggio Emilia’s Erbazzone, and followed by a dessert, typically Tiramisu. A wide selection of wines and digestifs will also be available. An authentic, convivial, and relaxing experience, with many simple recipes you can easily recreate at home!
