I love preparing traditional Sicilian dishes and look forward to welcoming you to my charming 1913 villa in Messina, with breathtaking views of the Strait. You will be treated to a unique gastronomic experience. We will start with a welcome aperitif, offering a variety of tastings, including fried anchovies, cheeses, and more. Next, we will immerse ourselves in the preparation of homemade pasta, opting for cavatelli and agnolotti with seasonally selected sauces, which may include ricotta or the classic sugo alla norma. Finally, we will conclude with the Italian dessert par excellence, tiramisu.

Today it has been a very special day to me. We have been greeted at the port by Daniela who welcomed us and guided us to her beautiful house uphill in Messina with gorgeous views of the city. She made us feel like we were at our own home and guided us through a wonderful culinary experience where we learned how to cook authentic Sicilian food with the best ingredients available. Andrea has been very friendly and feel times in my life I felt so happy and at ease at someone’s house. This would be an experience that I would and will recommend to everyone as it has been very special. I can only thank Daniela and Andrea for been so welcoming, warm and wonderful with us today.

My favorite part of my two week vacation was meeting, daniella and Andrea, and having a cooking experience. We had eggplant carbonara tagliatelle. We also made Arancini and cannolis. They were so fresh better than the states and the key which I learned sheep ricotta, which is very hard to find here in the states, but I did find it. The girls are woman and welcoming, and I highly highly recommend that you make this part of your trip to Sicily.. Grazie Millie

We had an exceptional experience with Maria Daniela and her family. They were all so friendly and engaging. They have a beautiful home with an amazing terrace and view of the water, made us feel welcome and right at home as we talked about Italian cuisine, tasted her homemade olive oil, drank wine ate and prepared food. Our entire group of 3 teenagers and 4 adults took part in making courses, pasta and cannolis and had so much fun. We then ate a multi course meal which was amazing and was toped off by eating homemade cannolis. We all had a great time and would highly recommend making this cooking experience with Maria Daniela part of your travels through Sicily!

In Messina, there are so many things to see: churches, palaces, fortifications, fountains, and monuments. But to truly get to know this city, you also need to taste its traditional dishes. That’s why I believe the best way to experience the real Messina is through its flavors and aromas — and the best place to do that is in my home. I’m Maria Daniela, and I love the sea. From the garden of my 1913 villa, you can look out and enjoy the spectacular view of the Strait of Messina. With me, you can learn how to make maccheroncini al ferro — traditional fresh pasta seasoned with a rich sauce — and Messina-style veal cutlets, a dish I’ve been preparing since I was a child, when I helped my mother and sisters in the kitchen, filling and rolling them by hand.
