Sunday is the time when families gather round the table: it is a celebration and, as such, should convey joy. Good, ‘comforting’ food can bring pleasure, satisfaction and nourishment all at once. At my table, you can enjoy traditional Sunday dishes, some of which have been forgotten, such as baked peaches stuffed with almonds and amaretti, and sweet-and-sour tripe salad, alongside the best-known and most loved dishes, such as baked pasta and sausages with roasted vegetables. A menu based on the famous ‘zero km’ philosophy and combating food waste, just as our grandmothers used to do – who were far more ‘modern’ and forward-thinking than we are. We’ll see how to create a tasty and creative first or main course using just a few ingredients. Try it and see for yourself!

Our visit with Elena was amazing. We so enjoyed our polenta cooking class. Each dish (appetizer, first and second course, as well as dessert were made using polenta. The food was amazing. Most importantly of all was the hospitality shown to us. Our tour of the B&B was such an unexpected surprise. The rooms are creative and authentic. We highly suggest this experience!

Elena is a wonderful hostess and we had the pleasure of spending a lovely and unforgettable evening with her (and her husband Antonio). Delicious and typically Italian dishes were cooked and baked, which we can now brag about to our friends, such as the traditional shortcrust pastry from the Mantova region, the Torta Sbrisolona. According to my friend Markus, it was the best birthday gift of all time! I cannot disagree. It was truly great :-)

I love recipes popular, those of grandmothers and traditions that are no longer used and I love, at times, to transform them into a new dish, but not too much. My philosophy is to use top quality products, as much as possible at zero km; pasta, homemade bread, pizza and desserts. Most of the fresh products are of own production (vegetables, fruits) found in local farms, or from DOCG, DOP, organic or biodynamic denomination companies."
