Mariella was amazing and food was wonderful. My whole family enjoyed this experience.

We had an amazing time with Mariella. She was so friendly and warm from the beginning of our day to the end. Meeting point was very easy to find and her home was close by reducing travel time. She welcomed us into her home to teach us about the making of pasta, and many other food dishes we had that day from the ingredients to the preparation. Everything we had was either a favorite dish and more wonderful to have a local version , or something new we never had before, and each dish more delicious than the last. Mariella and her husband made it seem so easy even though we see how much work and time they put into making our day special. They listened to our concerns about food allergies and accommodated without hesitation. They even made a special dish not in their regular menu to have us try a local delicacy. Everything was just outstanding. And with translation apps we communicated just fine and had wonderful conversations getting to know each other and talking about the food. We would recommend this tour to anyone who wants a personal experience and not afraid to meet new people.

Mariella was such a gracious and wonderful host for our time in Messina! She picked us up from our cruise ship, took us for a lovely coffee and crossiant, and then on to the market where we purchased some of the ingredients for our cooking class! She then welcomed us into her home and taught us how to make pasta! As well as pidonis and cannolis! The food was all so delicious and it was so wonderful getting to know her! She gave us a tour of her garden and some delicious citrus fruit from her own trees! Even though we didn’t speak the same language, we were able to communicate just fine with Google translate and lots of laughing! This was one of our favorite stops on our cruise and would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to experience an authentic Italian kitchen with the sweetest instructor!! Make sure you come hungry.. you won’t be disappointed!!

This experience was wonderful! I have memories of it that will last a lifetime. Mariella is a great teacher and a lovely person. My daughter and I learned how to make tiramisu, focaccia, and several pastas - and we plan to start making pasta regularly at home now. But the best part was how personable and engaging Mariella (and her mother) are. My grandparents are from Messina so this experience was as much about connecting with my Sicilian roots and food traditions as it was about making pasta. Mariella talked about the area my grandparents are from and about Messina generally, which made the experience that more special. I’m very thankful to her for the time and special memories she gave me.

Mariella was amazing! She showed us the market where we bought the ingredients for our class, then took us to our beautiful home for a class on making pasta and a delicious lunch. We loved the experience

My cuisine is linked to tradition with a touch of poetic license for some foods, which are too strong for me. Born and raised in Messina, I actually learned the Messina tradition when I grew up, because my parents were originally from Gioiosa Marea and Piraino, provinces of Messina but with several differences in methodology. I try to combine these diversities in a taste that is, I would say, pleasant. I like to know and above all I would like these traditions not to disappear.
