Cooking class: learn how to cook traditional & innovative Italian recipes from a local Cesarina

Shared Experience
Your experience
  • Tigelle (traditional round flatbreads)
  • Tiramisu

I look forward to seeing you at my cozy home in Sestola, in the Modena Apennines, for an authentic culinary experience together! We will learn how to make tigelle, small round breads typical of the area, traditionally filled with Modenese pesto (lard, garlic and rosemary) and Parmigiano Reggiano. There will be no shortage of mouth-watering alternatives with cured meats, cheeses, vegetables or even Nutella, for those with a sweet tooth! We will bake them in a pan, so you can easily make them again at home. To end on a sweet note, we will prepare together a classic tiramisu, to be enjoyed with coffee and digestif. I look forward to seeing you!

The experience with Alessandro was so delightful, I recommend it wholeheartedly! It was my first day in Bergamo and the tour with him gave me a chance to get to know the old town from a local perspective and it's history combined of course with great food! It was so fun and he's such a kind man.

Amazing evening. A wonderfully personal experience. Fantastic food and cooking skills to take home with us in the setting of Alessandro and his family’s very generous hosting.

Excellent food, hands-on learning, and a welcoming environment! I can’t say enough good things about this experience. I was fortunate enough to be welcomed into Alessandro’s home and, in addition to a practical learning experience, we had a great conversation – I also had the pleasure of meeting his two delightful children! As a solo traveler, being welcomed into the home of someone who has lived in Bergamo for many decades, this experience was incredibly meaningful.

Our evening at Alessandros was truly a highlight of our trip. We cannot reccomend it enough. We made two pasta dishes, and a tiramisu. The food was amazing, and the course was very hands on and so much better than we had expected. We cannot wait to try the recipes at home, and we both really felt that we learned a lot! The home was also super cozy, and we felt very welcomed by Alessandro and his family! Highly recomend!

Wonderful experience at Alessandro’s home, a Cesarina in Bergamo. He welcomed us warmly into his home and taught us how to prepare scarpinocc de par with passion and skill. In addition to the cooking class, he delighted us with an excellent menu inspired by Emilia, linked to his origins, accompanied by truly excellent wine. A convivial atmosphere, pleasant conversation and great availability. An authentic experience and absolutely to be recommended!

My name is Alessandro. I was born in Milan in 1961 to parents from Emilia. I look forward to welcoming you in the kitchen of my home on the outskirts of Bergamo, where we will prepare and enjoy local specialties together (Scarpinocc, typical Bergamasco ravioli, or Polenta Taragna) as well as dishes from my family tradition (Tagliatelle, Rosette Modenesi, Tigelle). Everything will be preceded by a variety of possible appetizers, including Reggio Emilia’s Erbazzone, and followed by a dessert, typically Tiramisu. A wide selection of wines and digestifs will also be available. An authentic, convivial, and relaxing experience, with many simple recipes you can easily recreate at home!
