Millions of years ago, the Po Valley did not exist and the Adriatic Sea stretched all the way to Piedmont. Therefore, I present a seafood menu suitable for winter evenings by the fireplace and beautiful sunny days in the garden. As an appetizer, I propose anchovies with green bagnetto, marinated anchovies, seared octopus with potatoes, and warm cannellini beans, combining sea and land ingredients. Fish patties drowned in the sauce add a delicious touch. For the first course, an ever-present spaghetti with a seafood mixture. For the main course, I suggest salmon cooked on a salt plate with vegetables. To end on a sweet note, a fresh fruit Cheesecake and limoncello made strictly by me. This is my seafood menu, a tribute to a very distant past.
We, a part of four very much enjoyed cooking with Monica at her home. We learned a lot about the Italian culture of food. It was a wonderful experience making Tiramisu and pasta from hand and also seeing and making Vitello tonnato sauce from hand. A some what negative point was the level of knowledge of the English language as two in our party do not speak English therefore we translate quite a bit. Overall we enjoyed our time with Monica and learned more about the Italian culture and way of living.

Our host, Monica, was lovely! The experience was marvelous! My husband and I met Monica at an agreed location in Asti (easy to find), and then walked to a local open air market to shop for produce for our meal. After, she drove us to her beautiful home to share a cooking lesson (pasta, chocolate stuffed peaches, and saucy-vegetable bruschetta - YUM!) in her gorgeous kitchen and then ate the delectable meal with her lovely son around the family's table. The advice, the laughter, the ability to improve our Italian language skills, and the joy of cooking with a local in her home was a memory we will never forget. We HIGHLY recommend cooking with Monica! We have been to cooking lessons before, and this was by far the most exceptional!

The experience with Monica was the best thing we could have imagined or asked for. She was a great host and a great chef - she clearly knows a lot about what she's doing. She welcomed us to her beautiful home with open arms :) as we were talking about Parmigiano while dinner and where to buy it she took us the next day (on her day off!) to a friend of hers and let us taste and buy the best of the cheese she had (and Renata had a lot of delicious cheese :))
She treated us like good friends and not only gave us a great experience but also great tips to make our own tiramisú and traditional pasta. I would book this experience over and over again!
