Hi from Paola!

San Venerio, a small village in the hills of La Spezia that borders the gulf and the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, is located in a splendid position for both climate and view. In this corner of paradise, we can enjoy the delicacies that Cesarina Paola has prepared with a typically Ligurian flavor. Ligurian cuisine has an ancient tradition that reflects the unique characteristics of the geographical area. Being close to both the sea and the mountains has created a combination of land and sea dishes.  This is what we will find seated around Paola's table: a very varied gastronomic repertoire, where not only the origins of the ingredients vary, but also the tradition from which the dishes derive.

A highlight of our trip to Italy. We already purchased the tool to edge our ravioli because we feel ready to make it at home. You also learn to make Tagliatelle, Tiramisu, and the freshest pesto you will ever taste. Local wine , limoncello…it was all perfect. Paola is a perfect host and patient teacher. Such a great experience visiting their home. Definitely schedule this activity. Learning how to make so many things with an expert Italian chef is truly awesome. She also make sure to adjust the tiramisu for our gluten free son and made corn pasta so he could try the pesto. Perfect morning!

Family with Gluten Free and Regular Pasta Eaters  - March 2024

Our family of 4 had a delightful morning with Paola learning to make Ravioli, Tagliatelle, Pesto and Tiramisu. She is a patient and wonderful teacher. Massimo and Paola are warm and kind. They made us feel like family. The food was absolutely delicious. I emailed Paola that two of use were gluten free. I didn't want her to be offended that two of us would not be eating the food. She surprised us with gluten free pasta to eat with the pesto. She also made sure the Tiramisu was made gluten free. My son was so grateful to be able to not only participate in the cooking experience but also share in tasting the food we prepared. We left with a warm heart and a full belly. We will definitely make these recipes at home. If you are in the center of La Spezia, it is a 15 minute cab ride. Massimo drove us back. We really appreciate the ride. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Definitely book this experience.

I had a very delightful time with Paolo and learned a lot about homemade pasta and creamy Tiramisu. Paola was very easygoing and I had a great time in her home. She and her husband Massimo are great hosts. One of my best experiences during my tour through Italy.

Having dinner with Massimo and Paola was one of the highlights of our Italian vacation so far. They came and picked us up from our room and drove us to their place. The food was wonderful but even better than that was the conversation. Massimo helped me with my Italian even though they both spoke English very well. We will always hold this trip in our hearts.

Paola and Massimo were so wonderful, responsive, generous, and kind. We found the cooking class to be interesting, fun, and an experience we will remember every time we remake the recipes. Their house is comfortable and they were so friendly. I highly recommend!
