Experience the art of Italian cooking in a breathtaking setting: nestled in the hills of Riomaggiore with views of the Cinque Terre coastline, in a picturesque stone house featuring a lovely outdoor patio and a charming olive grove. In this 3-hour class, you’ll learn how to make fluffy homemade gnocchi and authentic Genovese pesto, prepared in the traditional way using a mortar and pestle.
My husband and I select only the highest quality local ingredients: fresh basil, pine nuts, extra virgin olive oil, Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino Sardo. Immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of our olive grove, savour your creations paired with local wines and enjoy seasonal fruit or a traditional dessert prepared just for you. It’s not just a cooking class: it’s a sensory journey!

- Barbara and Stefano were the perfect hosts. The class was very informative and hands-on. Getting there was a bit more difficult than anticipated. Take Barbara up on her offer of arranging taxi service to her house. In the end, the 100 treacherous stairs up the mountain were worth it but if you are not in really good shape it can be a problem.
- Perfetto!! The food, the hosts, the setting, the instruction, the dogs, the house…it was all magnificent! I can’t describe all of the different points of perfection, so I will just say that we would do it again, it was worth the money, and it was a top moment of our entire trip (which spanned 2 weeks in 4 different countries).
- Amazing! Barbara and Stefano were so welcoming. The views from the mountain side are spectacular. Barbara was very knowledgable and taught us how I imagine my mom would have taught me if she were Italian and made pasta, and Tiramisu. Side note just get a cab, the locator on whatever map you are looking at is wrong because that new modern device doesn’t have ancient Roman footpaths on it.
- Barbara and Stefano were nothing short of amazing. The view from their home in Riomaggiore felt like something out of a dream, very peaceful, expansive and unforgettable. But what made the experience truly special was them. It’s rare to be welcomed so warmly by locals, and even rarer to be invited into their kitchen to learn a treasured family recipe passed down through generations. We made pasta, bruschetta, and the most amazing tiramisu we have ever tasted. Their sweet dogs, Anna and Julie, made it all feel even more like home. Barbara and Stefano have such a deep love for food and tradition. Every ingredient had a purpose, every step had meaning. You could feel the care in the way they prepared everything, always with intention and always with heart. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat just to be in their presence, to share another meal, and to take in that stunning view. Thank you, Barbara and Stefano, for one of the most beautiful memories we will carry with us.
- Our cooking class was absolutely wonderful! Barbara and Stefano were so inviting and taught us a lot about Italian cuisine and culture. They opened their beautiful home and we felt so welcomed. The whole experience so fun! We went away with fresh knowledge, full stomachs and warm hearts! Would do this again!

I was born in the Gulf of Poets, to a Sardinian mother and a Genoese father, and spent my childhood with my beloved grandparents. I like to think of myself as a citizen of the world, but I have a strong connection to my land and its traditions, as does my husband Stefano. Together, we want to share our passion for cooking and our roots with other enthusiasts and curious minds. Since I was a child, I developed a strong passion for cooking, thanks to my grandmother who taught me to experiment and taste new flavors. I have always been adventurous and have tried all the original recipes from different countries around the world, but Ligurian cuisine remains my favorite. We decided to open the doors of our house, located on the terraces of the Cinque Terre above Riomaggiore, to share our passion for cooking and local culture. For us, cooking is the best way to tell the story of our land and pass on the true Ligurian tradition to others. We are excited to share this culinary journey with guests from around the world!
