Shared Experience
Your experience

The experience includes a visit to Catania's oldest market, "a piscarìa," which is located close to Piazza Duomo. Among the enchanting architectural works, we will wander among the various characteristic stalls and we will be able to choose together the products for your lunch or dinner at my home, which is located a short walk from Piazza Duomo and Castel Ursino. Immersed in the historic area, you will savor the scents and flavors of ancient Catania.

Maurizio is a wonderful and very likeable person, as well as an exceptional chef who combines tradition and innovation. We learned many tricks of the trade with him and spent a beautiful evening in his company. Exceptional experience, thank you so much Maurizio!

I had such a wonderful time with Maurizio! I happened to be the only person in the class, but it never felt awkward or quiet — it felt more like spending the afternoon at a friend’s home, cooking, eating, drinking wine, talking about Sicily, food and music. Maurizio welcomed me with a beautiful platter of cheeses, breads and dips and gave me time to settle in before we started. We made tagliatelle and cavatelli completely from scratch, along with two delicious sauces, and I learned several simple techniques I had never come across despite cooking for years. The tiramisu lesson was especially useful — I finally learned how to get just the right amount of coffee into the ladyfingers without making them soggy! We enjoyed some excellent wine and Prosecco, talked about his incredible vinyl collection and Sicilian culture, and one of my favorite surprises was hearing Maurizio play the piano. He even packed up the food I couldn’t finish for me to take home. The only tiny note is that the class ran quite a bit longer than the listed time, so clearer timing beforehand would help with planning. Overall, this was so much more than a cooking class — warm, personal, delicious and genuinely memorable. Highly recommend!

I've always dreamed of taking a cooking class in Italy...one of those magical experiences that feels like it belongs in a movie. I never imagined that, in the heart of Sicily, it would become one of the most heartwarming memories of my trip. From the moment we arrived, Maurizio welcomed us into his beautiful home like old friends. My two sisters and I joined three other wonderful people, and by the end of the afternoon it felt less like a class and more like sharing dinner with family. Maurizio is everything you could hope for in a host...charming, funny, warm, and incredibly generous with his knowledge. He guided us through making fresh pasta completely from scratch, sharing little tips and stories along the way that made the experience even more special. The pasta was simple, authentic, and absolutely delicious. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we finished by making the most delightful tiramisu. But what made this experience unforgettable wasn't just the food...it was the feeling. The laughter around the table, the conversations, the warmth of his home, and the kindness he showed all of us. And then there was the music. Thank you, Maurizio, for the beautiful gift of songs you gave us. It's something I will cherish long after I've forgotten the recipe measurements. That moment touched my heart in a way I didn't expect. I left with a full stomach, a full heart, and memories I'll treasure forever. Italy will always hold a special place in my heart because of this experience. If you're considering taking one of Maurizio's cooking classes, don't hesitate. Come hungry, come curious, and prepare to leave with much more than a wonderful meal.

My main expertise lies in pasta dishes, but I don't underestimate the importance of velvety soups and meat and fish entrees. My culinary creations draw inspiration from traditional Sicilian and Calabrian recipes, reinterpreted with a modern twist. I prefer using local ingredients, so-called "zero kilometer" products, to create a unique harmony that enhances the authentic colors, fragrances, and flavors of our region. I invite you to try a pasta dish seasoned with my almond and basil pesto, or an intriguing pistachio and sun-dried tomato pesto. I also offer delightful options made with red tuna and mint; pork or beef fillet enriched with vintage vinegar and white onion cream; potato meatloaf embellished with red tuna and capers. And to sweetly conclude, I propose traditional desserts made with ricotta or pistachio cream, among many other delicacies.
