Esperienza privata

Carman and her family were wonderful and taught me recipes I did not know. And I cook a lot back home. She has a beautiful and welcoming home.

A wonderful afternoon spent with Carmen in her beautiful home! The instruction and food were amazing and Carmen made us feel so welcome and even shared her mother’s homemade wine with us. Thanks Carmen for a wonderful afternoon experiencing true Italy!

Carmen was great! The experience was exactly what I was hoping for, and as a chef, it was valuable to me so far beyond what was served and eaten! To get into the garden and see the goat, to have Carmen show me her giant crock of acciughe! A great night! (One thing I do wish was better, was the directions given to arrive! I received the address earlier in the afternoon, which was hard to plan for, I had booked an experience west of Salerno, and this was east of Salerno in the hills, and the address I provided for the taxi driver was about 2 km away from the actual address. It was a stressful process to get there on my end, but once I did, it was great!)

What a fun time for my wife and I to experience how Italian families really cook in their homes - one of the highlights of our trip. We learned to make pasta from scratch; Ndunderi (Ricotta Gnocchi) in a tomato sauce and Ravioli in a zucchini sauce and the best ever tasting Tiramisu. We were amazed that most everything came from their garden, including the cheese, salami, olives, bread and all the vegetables. They even shared their mother’s home made wine with us. Carmine and her family’s place is located up in the hills outside of Salerno, but she arranged for our transportation. They don’t speak English and we didn’t speak Italian, but that was not an issue. Can’t wait to get home to try our new skills at making pasta - we even ordered Italian flour.

Carmen is amazing!!! And Marcello, as well! Her home is beautiful and she opened up her doors to us as if we were family. She had pre-prepared delicious appetizers all of which were homemade, including wine and salami. We made pasta together and ate until stuffed! We have a lifetime memory of cooking and enjoying a meal with both of them. They made our entire trip!!
