For the people of Bari, the aperitivo is made of simple things, reminiscent of the scents and products of the city; I have chosen for you 5 dishes that will take you through all the traditions of this fantastic seaside city. We will prepare mussels au gratin and anchovy pie, I will teach you how to cook them in a simple and tasty way as my mother used to do. However, considering also the frequent and abundant use of vegetables in Apulian cuisine, which is certainly famous for being originally based precisely on the simple ingredients of the earth, we will prepare together appetizers based on eggplant and tomatoes. I look forward to seeing you in my home with a glass of Spritz in hand in a relaxed but also fun environment. I can prepare vegetarian and vegan alternatives.

Cooking with Sara in her home was a fantastic experience. She shared her knowledge of Italian cooking and the secrets and techniques for success. She was well organized, the sauces for the pastas we made were done in advance. We totally expect we’ll be able to recreate what we prepared with her when we return home. Her cooking was done with love and we were able to share the time with her daughter who assisted her and were joined for lunch by her daughter’s lovely husband and their son. Truly a highlight of our time in Puglia.

We really enjoyed our dinner experience with Sara and her family. She was extremely well prepared and very experienced in the kitchen. Her daughter and son-in-law joined us too. We appreciated getting to experience “real life” in Italy in a normal person’s home. This is probably the highlight of our trip to Italy and we recommend it to anyone who wants a glimpse into regular Italian life and wants to spend time with wonderful people. They even sent us home with our leftovers and lots of pictures of the evening.
