Private Experience
Your experience
  • Aperitif with local products and prosecco at the atelier
  • Fresh pasta made with durum wheat flour and spelled flour with homemade seasonal sauces
  • Fried buccellato, a sweet from our tradition or tiramisu on request

The atelier visit showcases a collection of exclusive and artisanal objects made with paper and reclaimed materials, combining illustrations, unpublished poems, and unique, special messages related to food culture. The experience includes a carefully designed table setting (placemats, coasters, table decorations, and bottles). Each participant will receive a special card, hand-illustrated and calligraphed with the guest's name.

Upon returning home, we'll continue with another surprise seasonal appetizer (bruschetta, fried dough, marinated olives). We'll then prepare homemade pasta with two different organic flours, topped with homemade seasonal sauces. Following that, we'll taste the fried buccellato, a typical dessert from Lucca or, upon request, tiramisu, accompanied by prosecco.

Our afternoon with Monica was wonderful! It was not only authentic and educational but Monica made us feel like family! She took the time to make sure we understood the techniques and we rested with good food, good company and good wine in between! Paolo, Monica’s husband was wonderful as well. He worked hard behind the scene to make this a memorable experience!

It was truly a pleasure spending the day with Monica and her husband. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our pasta making and enjoyed the foods Monica prepared. She was such a delight! I would highly recommend this activity! The only negative I have was that there was no Market tour, which is how it was advertised with "Get Your Guide", but that was no fault of Monica's. She was simply the best!

Monica was fabulous! She has such a love of her country and its food. Lunch was delicious and we learned so much. This was the highlight of my trip!

Monica's class was great! She is so sincere, knowledgeable and passionate about the local, fresh ingredients we used. It was really fun to learn how to make homemade pasta. She is a delight!

My daughter and I and three friends were blessed to spend a lovely morning and afternoon with Monica Rosati in Lucca, Italy, sharing her passion for fresh local foods! It was an amazing day and my favorite of the four trips we have made to Italy. We began our day by meeting Monica at Atelier Casa Inverse, the art studio of a young friend. As our visit was on a Sunday, she opened her shop just for us. While we looked at her lovely art work, she personalized place cards and other items that were available for purchase. She served an array of Italian cookies for us to try while shopping. She is a talented and charming artist/hostess! From the shop, Monica took us home where we were welcomed by her children and husband. We relaxed on a pleasant patio which contained her outdoor kitchen. Once we were settled with a glass of Prosecco, she proceeded to have us feel and examine 10 different flours that she uses in her cooking. Then we measured and mixed two different pastas all the while being fascinated with her descriptions of life in Lucca and her passion for cooking. She made sure we understood how different flours affected the texture of the pasta we were making. We took turns kneading them for 20 minutes and then let them sit while we she talked of the importance of choosing fresh, local ingredients.Monica speaks excellent English but was quick to practice words she had not yet mastered to her satisfaction. There was much laughter and we were at ease as though we were visiting old friends. She and her husband kept our wine glasses filled while we enjoyed wonderful plates of appetizers, the two kinds of pasta that we made, and deserts, especially my favorite, the fried Buccellato. Do not miss this amazing opportunity to cook with Monica!
