I love preparing traditional Sicilian dishes and look forward to welcoming you to my charming 1913 villa in Messina, with breathtaking views of the Strait. You will be treated to a unique gastronomic experience. We will start with a welcome aperitif, offering a variety of tastings, including fried anchovies, cheeses, and more. Next, we will immerse ourselves in the preparation of homemade pasta, opting for cavatelli and agnolotti with seasonally selected sauces, which may include ricotta or the classic sugo alla norma. Finally, we will conclude with the Italian dessert par excellence, tiramisu.

- The greatest excursion ever. EMERSIVE! Daniela opened up her home and she taught us how to cook a fantastic meal. The atmosphere was tremendous and the view was spectacular. If you have the opportunity to take advantage of this jewel it’s a must!
- Wow. A once in a lifetime experience! Daniela and Andrea took us to their house (Daniela’s home) and we made tagliatelle, and arancini. We also made cannoli for dessert. The food was incredible, but the intangibles are the reason to do this. You get to spend a day with a real sicilian and have real conversations with such wonderful people. We will come back! These people are so special.

But to truly get to know this city, you also need to taste its traditional dishes. That’s why I believe the best way to experience the real Messina is through its flavors and aromas — and the best place to do that is in my home. I’m Maria Daniela, and I love the sea. From the garden of my 1913 villa, you can look out and enjoy the spectacular view of the Strait of Messina. With me, you can learn how to make maccheroncini al ferro — traditional fresh pasta seasoned with a rich sauce — and Messina-style veal cutlets, a dish I’ve been preparing since I was a child, when I helped my mother and sisters in the kitchen, filling and rolling them by hand.
