We will discover the ancient shops of Lucca and their splendid signs, refined works with attention to the smallest details that are still present and often perfectly preserved. Among the oldest businesses still in operation, we mention the Carli goldsmith's (since 1665), the Giusti bakery (since 1900), the Taddeucci pastry shop (active since 1881), which prepares Buccellato using a recipe that has remained secret over the years, the Massagli pharmacy (established in 1855), the Da Felice pizza shop, the largest underground wine cellar in Italy, a truffle shop, and many others. Afterwards, we will learn how to prepare an aperitif according to my family's tradition and enjoy it with small seasonal delicacies typical of the area.

Monica was a last minute switch for us as our original chef became sick the day before our class. We couldn’t have asked for a better teacher and guide to Italian cuisine. We took this class while on our honeymoon, and it was one of our favorite experiences during our three weeks in Italy. She and her husband were both incredibly warm and inviting, and made us feel like part of their family. We felt that we got much more than just a cooking class, but also an introduction and welcome into Italian culture. We will absolutely be returning when we come back to Italy.

Monica and her husband welcomed us in her home and had a lovely family dinner with us. We made two fresh pastas that were delicious. Besides the pasta, they had prepared different food for us to taste. Unfortunately we did not make tiramisu but overall it was a great experience!
