Hi from Patrizia!

"My life is tied to the lake, this is where I have my roots and where I’m fine. I am a painter, my work allows me to manage time and the kitchen is for me my second workshop, where I can easily create dishes instead of paintings. My two children, now grown up and my husband were those who made me practice and love cooking. Hosting friends during the summer in the garden was an opportunity to understand that receiving guests is a pleasure and a personal enrichment. The ingredients of my recipes are all genuine, from local producers:  honey, cheese, fish, directly from the fisherman in Dervio, and vegetables from my garden that my husband cares with passion for many years. Our house is a bit like the houses of the past, the fireplace and the stove allow us to warm up and cook with wood, and I must say that the result of the dishes cooked on the wood stove is very good. Also in the garden we have a kitchen and, in summer, we prepare, cook and always eat outdoors."

This was an amazing experience. Patrizia and Luka were great hosts and we felt at home with them. The location is amazing with spectacular views of the lake from high above. Then there is the cooking experience which was amazing. We talked a lot about local Italian food traditions and shared some of our American Italian experiences. First we started off by making the desert. My wife and Patrizia worked on the desert (a chocolate lava cake) while Luka and I talked about Football. Once the desert was prepared and got got the main course which we decided to do a very traditional local pasta dish Pizzoccheri. A very unique pasta cut with potatoes cabbage and some amazing local cheese. All while drinking a little wine and have some salami and fresh made focaccia bread. We were allowed to do a lot of the prep and cooking work which was so much fun. We had great conversations about families and our travels. Once we started eating it was hard to stop as it was so flavorful and delicious. If you are in the area I would highly recommend this experience. We were staying near Varenna and found a taxi ride to and from which you will need to do based on the location in the hills. Plan in advance for your rides. We will remember this experience forever and are thankful to Patrizia and Luka for opening up their home to us.

Wow, what an amazing experience! Patrizia welcomed us to her beautiful home with the most stunning views. She showed us how to make a perfect tiramisu, followed by making fresh tagliatelle and tortellini. Patrizia set up a table outside in her garden, looking over the scenic views where we enjoyed the food we made. One of our favourite experiences from our trip to Lake Como and definitely something I’d recommend to anyone visiting.

Our group cooking class actually turned out to be a private cooking experience for our honeymoon with Patrizia and Luca! We had a blast learning to make Tiramisu from scratch and making homemade pasta of multiple varieties! We were also able to learn so much from them asking just about any question we had about Italy and Lake Como we could think of + perhaps we taught them a thing or two! We truly did not want to leave at the end because we had so much fun chatting. Oh, and the food was awesome! Wine, meat, cheese, homemade focaccia, tortelloni, tagatelli, tiramisu are surely to leave you feeling satisfied! Would love to do it again and will recommend this to any friends or family that visit Como! Truly an authentic Italian cooking experience!
