Daniela was an amazing hostess. We truly felt like we were visiting a friend’s home - a friend who is also an amazing cook! Making gnocchi was fun. We appreciated the hospitality and personalization. When Daniela realizes my daughter doesn’t like tiramisu she whipped up some fried apples. One thing to note for the best experience if you are coming from Cinqueterre you need to allow time travel. We were staying in Monterrossa and it took over an hour to get there. We ended up late. ( From cinqueterre you need to take a train and then a bus or have a 35 minute walk uphill or part e-bike and part uphill walk as the bikes stop working outside the city centre). Daniela was super accommodating and we weren’t rushed at all. She still gave us plenty of time and attention ! But we thought that mentioning this will help others plan their experience better. Thank you Daniela for a great experience!

This was one of the highlights of our trip with our 13 year old granddaughter. Our granddaughter made gnocchi and tiramisu along with Daniela while we observed. Together we shared sgabei with fillings, and dined on our gnocchi with ragu, finishing with the tiramisu while having a delightful conversation with Daniela. She is a passionate home cook and an excellent teacher -- all of which made for an experience that was even more delightful than we expected. We highly recommend this experience -- and the delicious, local food.

This was such a personal and memorable experience! Daniela is a professional host, and it felt like we were almost family. She is such a great teacher, and the food was amazing! We got so much more from this experience than we even expected. We highly recommend Daniela. (The bus makes for easy transportation to and from her house as well.)

The city of La Spezia is located practically on the border between Liguria and Tuscany. It is the ideal starting point to visit the splendid Cinque Terre and other characteristic villages in the area, such as Lerici and Porto Venere. With the sea in front of the city and the mountains behind, it is fascinating to admire it from above from San Giorgio castle, and experience its unique flavor through its culinary offerings, which reflect a combination of land and sea, evolution and experimentation. At my table, I bring you traditional recipes. I’m Daniela, your Cesarina, and I offer you the typical cuisine of La Spezia, the harmonious result of the meeting of different traditions from the neighboring regions. I prepare my dishes using simple ingredients. However, once combined, they give life to both strong and delicate flavors at the same time, recipes like 'sgabei' – raised bread dough that is cut into strips, fried, stuffed with cheeses or locally cured cold cuts, 'muscoli' (mussels) in a variety of versions and, of course, an absolute must, 'pesto' (sauce made from basil).
