Cooking class: learn how to cook Italian recipes

Private Experience
Your experience
  • Torta al testo with cured meats and pecorino cheese
  • Ravioli with lemon, tomato and basil
  • Chantilly cream and cherries

Torta al testo, the picnic bread of Umbria, is a soft flatbread we used to make when guests arrived and the bread had already run out. It’s a real joy watching it slowly rise in the pan! Served with traditional local cured meats, torta al testo brings back memories of my childhood. Alongside the charcuterie, you’ll enjoy regional cheeses such as soft pecorino, paired with surprising jams like chili pepper, lemon, ginger, and honey.

Then, gathered around the table, we’ll prepare delicious homemade ravioli, dressed with fresh tomatoes and basil or our own homemade butter. To finish the cooking class, a comforting dessert: Chantilly cream cups with sour cherries, a sweet embrace that will delight the palate.

Highly recommended. Our guide was great, knowledgeable, and very understanding in guiding us through our cooking lesson. The day entailed picking things up at the market, bringing them back to their home, blending the flours and making the pasta, preparing the tiramisu, and finally sitting down to a glorious lunch co-prepared by Laura and her husband. They shared their home and food with us and we had a memorable experience. Grazie!

Laura and her husband Luca were so warm, and welcoming I had a wonderful time. We made spaghetti using the pasta machine, then on a mandolin and ravioli with Laura's grandmother’s traditional roller. We also made Tiramisu in dainty china cups (a family heirloom). We had a fabulous lunch of the pasta we made, roast pork, vegetables and our tiramisu and wine with liqueur and coffee. It was such a memorable experience! Thank you Laura I wish you and your lovely family and friends the very best.

Laura and her husband were very friendly and welcoming. We made pasta and tiramisu. She explained tehe differences in dough. Too bad she only gets a small amount paid for her work, most of the payment goes to the network.

We had a fantastic evening with Laura and her husband Luca. They are both great cooks. It was wonderful to be invited into their cosy home. They showed us Italian cuisine, taught us how to make spaghetti, ravioli, tortellini and tiramisu while explaining Italian history and traditions. Definitely highly recommended and a highlight of our holiday!

A beautiful experience! I was together with my 15 year old daughter. We both were very impressed with Laura's workshop. A must do activity in Perugia.

Cesarina from 2020Location: Perugia    Languages: English, French, Italian
Cesarina Laura's house is surrounded by greenery, despite being a few kilometers from the historic center of Perugia. Umbria is a concentration of riches and tradition, where landscape, art and culture blend to create a respectable recipe. Cesarina Laura used to help her grandmother in the kitchen as a child, it is she who transmitted her passion for food and hospitality. At her table, traditional Umbrian cuisine: quality cured meats, as well as excellent homemade pasta, tasty sauces and desserts, linked to the religious, agricultural or life cycle calendar and generally with a profound ritual meaning.
