Direttamente dalla tradizione di famiglia, Giovanni vi accoglierà con la tipica parmigiana di melanzana tra profumo di basilico e la salsa di pomodoro tramandata da papà Angelo "Il Conte". Tra qualche chiacchiera e la storia di questi piatti, Giovanni presenterà gli affezionati Maccheroni, fatti a mano con il "ferro d'ombrello" proprio come li faceva la zia Amalia 80 anni fa.

Dopo qualche ricordo e qualche risata, chiuderà il pasto il cannolo siciliano, celebre in tutto il mondo per l'abbraccio tra la freschezza della sua ricotta e la cialda fragrante insieme a buon caffè, come vuole la tradizione.

Before we even had our experience, Giovanni was super communicative….right from the start. He gave us a couple different food options, answered any questions we had, and made sure we knew how to find their location. Our family of 4 absolutely loved our time with Giovanni and Roberta. We immediately felt we were at home, so comfortable from the start. Giovanni taught us how to make homemade gnocchi and macaroni. And after hearing our 9 year old’s love for “mac n cheese” he even cooked a homemade version of that as well! We relaxed on their rooftop terrace with wine and appetizers while the pasta cooked. We all loved hearing about their Sicilian lives. Our kids got so much more out of this authentic experience than they would have from any bus or walking tour. Thank you Giovanni and Roberta!

What a lovely visit to Chef Giovanni and family in Palermo. Giovanni grew up in the restaurant world in surrounding towns and while cooking was the focus today, we learned much more. We enjoyed Giovanni’s hospitality showcasing our own creations and some local appetizers in his home in central Palermo. Bravo!

Giovanni is a great cook and teacher. He’s warm and friendly and speaks excellent English. He was very communicative before and during our time in Sicily, which was really nice. We had fun at the market where we bought things to cook and Giovanni shared a lot of information about the food and Palermo. It was amazing to meet his family, get to know them, learn to make pasta, gnocchi and artichokes in his kitchen and then eat a feast on his beautiful roof deck, which he worked hard to create and served so graciously. We felt like family! He was very flexible about the things we cooked, especially after I saw so many artichokes in the market! He’s a good teacher, fun and patient. It was a terrific experience!

A casa di Giovanni e Roberta troverete i piatti tipici della tradizione siciliana. Giovanni è cresciuto tra i fornelli del ristorante di famiglia sulla baia di Taormina, ha ereditato i piatti di suo padre e li ha portati tra le mura di casa a Palermo dando vita a sapori nuovi ma conditi di ricordi. La pasta fresca è la protagonista dei suoi primi: maccheroni alla norma, gnocchi pistacchio e gamberetti, ravioli ricotta e arancia. Proseguendo con parmigiana di melanzane o di pesce spada che accompagnano le polpette al limone o le braciolettine della tradizione messinese. Chiude il pasto il sapore dolceamaro del gelo all'arancia o lo speciale biancomangiare alle mandorle.
