Food Tour: discover the best places where to taste the finest local food & wine
A trip to the market in Greve in Chianti.
Greve, 6 km from my home, is the capital of Chianti Classico and the birthplace of Giovanni da Verrazzano. Its beautiful square, surrounded by loggias and traditional shops, hosts a non-food market every Saturday, while in a nearby square you can find stalls selling vegetables, cheese, cold cuts, bread, schiacciata, and spices. We will visit the two markets and then buy whatever the market has to offer, as it varies with the seasons. At home, we will prepare appetizers and pasta sauce using our purchases, finishing with a classic tiramisu. This experience allows you to immerse yourself in the daily life of the inhabitants of Chianti Classico and cook like them!

- Highlight of our trip! Sara and Lorenzo opened their home to us, taught us their family recipe and a lot more. When we sat down and had dinner together, it felt like we’ve made some great new friends. We will always cherish the evening.
- Very friendly and informative, enjoyed the company & learned some new skills as well!
- The cooking class with Sara and her husband was a truly unforgettable experience. We received such a warm welcome, and the two of them are incredibly friendly, genuine, and open. You immediately feel completely at ease in their company. In addition to the wonderful recipes, which come from Sara’s mother, they shared lots of helpful tips with us, and we even had the opportunity to learn more about the history of the region. It was so much fun preparing traditional Tuscan dishes by hand and then enjoying them together afterwards. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we had wonderful conversations in such a warm and personal atmosphere. We will never forget this special evening, and we will definitely be cooking the recipes at home. We can recommend this experience 100% — it was truly special!
- My friend and I took a cooking class with Sara and her son Lorenzo a few weeks ago and it was one of the most memorable points of our trip to Italy. Being invited into someone's home with such generosity was something that we never expected. The recipes were delicious. The company was amazing and the experience was something I will remember forever. We will be making the recipes for our families at home and will always think fondly about the experience. Sara and Lorenzo were so enthusiastic about the cooking, but also about telling us about their family, their stories, their culture and more and asking us questions about the same. I would recommend this to anybody who is traveling to the area. And to top it all off, we got to eat dinner in front of a beautiful sunset!
- Our Focaccia class with Sara and Lorenzo was an incredible way to spend our last night in Italy. This was the class we chose for a honeymoon activity, and I’m so glad we picked it. They were extremely knowledgeable about cooking and the local region. Very interesting and fun people to talk to. The focaccia was easily the best we have had. My favorite was the sausage and cheese focaccia which was a recipe Sara created herself. It was a great challenge and learning experience for us, and was funny to see how effortlessly Sara handled the dough. I can’t imagine a better class to have joined, the view at her house is also awesome. Thank you very much Sara and Lorenzo!
