Cooking class: learn how to cook traditional & innovative Italian recipes from a local Cesarina

Shared Experience
Your experience

Discover the art of making lasagna! A symbol of our culinary tradition, lasagna can be prepared with a rich meat sauce or a tasty vegetarian variation. The base is a sheet of egg pasta, also in the green spinach version, cut into rectangles. After a short cooking time, we assemble them in layers with delicious toppings before baking to bring out all the flavor. The experience begins with a sampling of authentic Modenese appetizers, continues with the preparation of lasagna and concludes with a timeless classic: Tiramisu. Finally, we will enjoy a lunch or dinner together to savor each dish prepared. A journey into the flavors of tradition that will win you over!

Wonderful afternoon with Maria Luisa. She was a very gracious host and the pasta we made was the most delicious we had in Modena. Thank you Maria Luisa, and Zlash (il gato) 🙂

It was a wonderful experience. Between chatting and a glass of Lambrusco, Maria Luisa patiently guided us, teaching us the art of making tortellini. I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn the art of homemade pasta.

My wife and I have done many “cooking classes” in Italy. This was by far the very best small class we have ever taken. Maria Luisa and her friend Ilaria were terrific. The class is in her lovely home and I felt like I was really welcome there. We had an amazing 3 hours talking and making lasagna. We really felt at home. The food was great and so was meeting these wonderful ladies (and Slash the cat).

I went with a friend to Maria Luisa's house to learn how to make tigelle. I really enjoyed the evening, fantastic company! It really feels like being at home, I had never made the dough before but I immediately felt comfortable. After the course, we all ate the tigelle she had prepared that morning, delicious! The tiramisu was also very good. Wonderful cat 😊

Cesarina from 2019Location: Modena (MO)    Languages: Italian and English
Modena is a city rich in tradition, famous throughout the world for good food and passion for the automotive industry. On its hills, you can see castles, fortresses, towers, and medieval villages, testimonies of its history, in a landscape that satisfies mind and spirit. Luisa spent her childhood in grandmother's kitchen, surrounded by the aromas and flavors of peasant cuisine. Every day she smelled the scent of fresh homemade pasta, tigelle, and crescentine, and it was exactly her grandmother who taught her to 'put your hands in the dough’. Our Cesarina lives closer to the historic center, where she hides a real treasure: the old family vinegar factory, which she loves to show her guests.
