Venice is a unique place: floating on a lagoon with a network of thousands of canals. Rich in history and culinary tradition, it is a city of art, forged from different pasts and cultures, with profound ties to both the land and the sea.The ancient city is also home our Cesarina, Giulia. Her cooking reflects her regional and family traditions made even more unique by a modern twist with her passion and expertise in local and seasonal ingredients.Giulia: "For me cooking is not a journey through youth but rather onwards into maturity. My childhood was spent in my grandmothers’ kitchens with the aromas and flavours of two different Italian cultures; Born in Turin with mother from Mantua and a Venetian father, I grew up around my grandmother in Mantua, with the scent of pumpkin, rolling homemade pasta, and in Venice with the sharing culture of Cicchetti (aperitivo finger food). Polenta, however, was common to both regions although in Mantua it had a yellow tinge and stark white colour in Venice".

Julia is the loveliest host you could have; generous with her time and knowledge, patient, encouraging and full of interesting information. We loved everything about our session, even the wonky pasta shapes that we produced; this session really made our visit to Venice memorable and we will long remember our time with Guilia. Thank you!

Giulia was such an amazing host and teacher! She explained the pasta and tiramisu making process in great detail and made sure we did not leave hungry! Her house was so cute and clean and she made us feel very comfortable. I will definitely be recommending her to family and friends who plan to visit Venice, and we will make sure to book again when we visit the beautiful city in the future. Thank you!

We did the cooking experience with Giulia. The entire experience was lovely. She was warm and friendly. We tried the Cynar aperitivo with the delicious starter plates. We helped make the ravioli and for dessert we had delicious tiramisu. We also had corn biscuit cookies were different and yummy. We enjoyed Giulia’s stories, admired her beautifully decorated apartment and left feeling like we had made a new friend for life. We would definitely want to share another experience with her when we return to Venice.
