I will guide you step by step, revealing techniques and secrets handed down by grandmothers, in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere. I will share with you my passion for Apulian culinary tradition and many valuable practical tips. Juanita We were welcomed by Anita with a warm smile and greeting. She made us feel comfortable from the minute we walked in. She kindly explained our choices for creating a traditional Baresse meal. She taught us the art of making homemade Cavatelli ( pasta )and Sporcamuss ( puff pastry). Anita continued to educate us on her knowledge of cooking and the traditions of the Puglia culture. Being Italian American the whole experience was old school Italian living… Perfectto …..🇮🇹💯

An informative and delicious lesson in Puglian cuisine. Juanita was patient and knowledgeable. We were treated to a delicious aperitivo which was carefully and lovingly prepared for us by Juanita. Her attention to detail is remarkable and we could see the pride in everything that she does. Even a seasoned cook will learn a few ideas! A must do when in Bari!

Juanita was a wonderful host. She has a real passion for sharing her incredible culinary skills. Together we made tagliatelle, oricchiette and tiramisu. She takes tremendous responsibility in practising safe food handling to protect her guests. In addition to these foods that we prepared she served us a lovely antipasto platter with fresh meats and cheeses as well as her homemade bread and two delicious appetizers. Would highly recommend this cooking class.

It was absolutely amazing!! Juanita is very passionate about cooking and the art of pasta making. She explains every step along the way and tells you all the tricks and secrets to a great pasta/tiramisu. She also prepared delicious entries for us and we had prosseco and wine with our food. I would definitely recommend this to everyone who wants a true italian cooking experience.

“De kookles pasta en tiramisu was een superleuke ervaring om met ons gezin te doen! De gastvrouw was erg vriendelijk en legde alles duidelijk en geduldig uit. Het maken van de gerechten was leerzaam en gezellig. De locatie was van buitenaf iets lastiger te vinden, maar eenmaal binnen was het helemaal top.”

Cesarina from 2018Location: Bari    Languages: Italian and English
The city of Bari is a fascinating discovery. The city’s two “faces” consist of the elegant murattiano neighborhood (the modern district) and the old city of Bari, nestled on the Adriatic Sea.    Bari is a sun-filled city, full of historical and gastronomic traditions. Here, you can explore the narrow streets of the old city, guided by the scent of Friselle (a dry and crunchy twice-baked bread), fresh olive oil and sun-ripened tomatoes, or watch mesmerized as the local massaie (homemakers) work intently at the art of folding orecchiette, which is not just a pasta, but a gastronomic religion.  The flavors and aromas of Bari’s cuisine take us to the home of our Cesarina, Juanita, who inherited her passion for the culinary arts from her grandmother Matilda, queen of the kitchen. Her name - Juanita - can be misleading; however, she really is of Puglia origins. This is made apparent just by sitting at her table, a table full of dishes linked to the local traditions, typical orecchiette con rape (rapini or broccoli raab with pasta), il polpo alla pignata (stewed octopus) or cavatelli con le cozze (pasta with mussels), and of course taralli (a dry and crunchy bread twist) that accompany every dish.
