Hi from Anna!

In the heart of Rome, a stone’s throw from St. Peter's Basilica,, we meet Anna, our Cesarina host.Anna welcomes us with a smile and tells us about her love for good food, born in her mother's kitchen. Anna loves tradition, but at the same time she likes to experiment, to make her recipes more and more original. Her other passion is the search for quality ingredients, indispensable for the success of a dish, which is always accompanied by a good wine.

My specialities
  •  Pastry puffs with pecorino cheese and crostini 'alla Ponticiana'
  •  Fregnacce 'alla sabina' (homemade pasta)
  •  Fried lamb chops

I had a wonderful experience with Anna. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of food and the authentic hospitality of an Italian family. I enjoyed learning about (and eating) seasonal foods such as puntarelle, seeing how gnocchi is prepared and helping with the tiramisu. I enjoyed a beautiful lunch with Anna, Giorgio and Sabine that I will long treasure. Thank you!

We’ve had a very nice experience with Anna and her son Matteo. I had already learned how to make pasta from cookbooks but when someone so skilled as Anna teaches you how to do it properly, you can still learn a lot. Next time I make pasta it will definately be much better! Apart from making pasta, we also had an interesting conversation about food, culture, history,… and a pleasant dinner for which husband/father Giorgio joined us. In all, the evening was a wonderful start of our stay in Rome. Warmely recommmended!

This was the highlight of our trip to Rome! We requested being matched with an experience that took us a bit further away from where we were staying, and so we were able to see a part of Rome we would not have otherwise seen. The market was very cool- this was a place where locals shopped and was not geared towards tourism. I wish we had something like this back home- so many choices for fresh, in season foods! The best part was going to Anna's home and eating lunch with the family. Yes, the food was delicious, but spending time with interesting and friendly people from another part of the world is a heartwarming and growth experience that for us, is what traveling is about. Anna and her family were wonderful hosts and we would be very lucky to share another meal with them one day in the future!

Anna and her family were so welcoming. She made a lot of delicious food for us including aperol sprize and wine. We had a lovely evening with her family. I am vegetarian so she even made nice dishes for me. In the end she gave us home made cookies for the next day. A perfect evening.

Anna and her family were wonderful host and excellent teachers. My friend Stephanie and I had an amazing time learning to make Gnocchi, crêpe lasagna, and tiramisu for dessert. The dishes were delicious and super fun to learn how to make. Anna and her family were very caring and engaging! The time we spent there with them went by so quickly, with how much enjoyment we were having. I highly recommend this experience, Anna’s cooking class was phenomenal! She really made you feel like family and we had a one in a life time experience of cooking Italian food in Italy!
