In the heart of Rome, a stone’s throw from St. Peter's Basilica,, we meet Anna, our Cesarina host.

 

Anna welcomes us with a smile and tells us about her love for good food, born in her mother's kitchen. Anna loves tradition, but at the same time she likes to experiment, to make her recipes more and more original. Her other passion is the search for quality ingredients, indispensable for the success of a dish, which is always accompanied by a good wine.

Anna and her family were so welcoming. She made a lot of delicious food for us including aperol sprize and wine. We had a lovely evening with her family. I am vegetarian so she even made nice dishes for me. In the end she gave us home made cookies for the next day. A perfect evening.

Anna and her family were wonderful host and excellent teachers. My friend Stephanie and I had an amazing time learning to make Gnocchi, crêpe lasagna, and tiramisu for dessert. The dishes were delicious and super fun to learn how to make. Anna and her family were very caring and engaging! The time we spent there with them went by so quickly, with how much enjoyment we were having. I highly recommend this experience, Anna’s cooking class was phenomenal! She really made you feel like family and we had a one in a life time experience of cooking Italian food in Italy!

I spent an unforgettable day cooking with Anna and her son Matteo, followed by a convivial meal with them both and Anna's husband, Giorgio. I could not have felt more welcome, they were especially patient with my efforts to speak Italian. We visited the amazing Trionfale market then returned to Anna's gracious home to cook up a storm. I now feel confident to try making my own pasta and despite it not being on the original menu, Anna kindly showed me how to prepare carciofi. It was a real pleasure to have a glimpse into daily life in Rome and Anna is an excellent ambassador for the city and for the Cesarine.

LeCesarine arranged a cooking lesson for me in Rome with Anna. It was a truly wonderful experience and actually a highlight of my trip to Rome. I felt totally welcome in her home and enjoyed cooking our luncheon meal for my 'family' with her. I took away a beautiful experience and three recipes!!!
