Cooking lesson: learn how to cook Italian recipes with a local Cesarina

Private Experience
Your experience

During this experience you will learn how to make cannoli from scratch: the most classic of Sicilian desserts characterized by a crispy shell lightly flavored with cinnamon filled with enveloping ricotta cream sweetened with sugar and chocolate chips. All with local raw materials! We will start with the dough, and while it rests we will prepare the ricotta cream, then proceed to rolling and forming the cannoli wrapped on traditional river reeds and frying them. As soon as they are cold we will fill them with the ricotta cream and decorate with homemade candied orange peels and pistachio granola. At this point we will end the experience by tasting the freshly prepared cannoli paired with homemade liqueurs such as limoncello or marsala wine.

We had a wonderful experience cooking with Alice and Francesco! It was such a fun and authentic experience. The home was clean and lovely right in the heart of Palermo. The class was structured well where we were able to have hands on experiences making all 3 courses, and all the food was absolutely delicious. Excellent class and a true highlight of our trip!

We really enjoyed cooking with Alice and Francesco. They shared so much insides on the veggies and the market and cooking in general. Highly recommended experience! Felt like cooking with friends (:

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic experience in Alice’s cooking class. She and Francesco warmly welcomed us into their home, where we learned to make several types of pasta and tiramisu, along with the rich history behind each dish. Sharing a meal with them afterward made the experience even more special— we connected over Sicilian traditions and discovered shared cultural roots. Highly recommend this class for anyone looking for an authentic culinary experience!

Alice's place was lovely to cook in. The dishes we prepared were easy & fun to make. We made plenty for our meal together, which was filled with laughter & wonderful conversation. It was also an informative and tailored to my taste class. Would recommend this class to all people, not just vegetarians!!!

"I was passionate about cooking and food since I was a child, accomplices grandmother who loved to cook and the whole family who loves to eat well. I therefore decided to pursue a university career in the field of gastronomy. I have faced a multidisciplinary and holistic path that has treated the world of food at 360 o'clock. I love cooking for my family and for others, starting from the choice of recipes and the selection of ingredients. I like to experiment and I'm particularly passionate about pastry and leavened foods. I do research on ancient cookbooks and asking around, especially older ladies, their family recipes. Sicily, like all Italy, has an invaluable gastronomic heritage, whose recipes and preparations vary from house to house, not only between cities and provinces. This gives the palate the opportunity to enjoy the same traditional dishes with different ingredients, techniques and stories."
