Cooking class: learn how to cook traditional & innovative Italian recipes from a local Cesarina

Shared Experience
Your experience
  • A traditional Sicilian starter
  • Fresh, handmade pasta with a pork and sausage sauce
  • Traditional Sicilian dessert

I invite you to my home in Catania to enjoy an authentic Sicilian culinary experience.

You’ll be welcomed with a typical Sicilian starter, prepared by me using simple, wholesome ingredients, and we’ll get stuck in, making fresh, handmade pasta together – such as tagliatelle or maccheroni – which we’ll serve with a traditional sauce made with pork and sausage, following my family’s recipe. I’ll guide you step by step through every stage of the preparation, making sure you learn properly, so you can take home a little piece of Sicily to recreate in your own kitchen. At the end of the course, there’ll be time for a sweet finale, also made by my own hands: a traditional Sicilian dessert.

Grace welcomed us with great warmth and taught us how to make tagliatelle and maccheroni with the pasta machine in a simple and engaging way. Together we cooked a truly spectacular pasta sauce and composed a typical and delicious appetizer, thanks to the very fresh products from Grace and her husband Rosario’s garden. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, perfect for learning and enjoying the evening. To finish, a delicious ricotta dessert prepared by them. Grace and Rosario are exquisite and very welcoming people: an authentic and absolutely recommended experience.

My name is Grazia, and I come from a family of true food lovers: my father is a pastry chef, and thanks to him I’ve learned many secrets and recipes of traditional Sicilian pastry.  I love getting my hands in the dough: from fried pizzas (which in Sicily we call siciliane) to rice fritters with honey, from wood-fired pizza to homemade fresh pasta – like tagliatelle and maccheroni al ferro. But it’s not just about sweets: I also enjoy preparing the great classics of Sicilian savory cuisine, such as caponata, parmigiana, and many other traditional dishes that tell the story and flavors of my land
