Cooking class: learn how to cook traditional & innovative Italian recipes from a local Cesarina
In Sicily there are also local versions of pizza and focaccia that differ from the regular neapolitan-style pizza in both the dough and the toppings, from one province to another.
In this cooking class you will learn all the secrets to prep a delicious focaccia Messinese. This is a typical baked product from the province of Messina, the city in the Strait, characterized by a thin, crispy dough and topped with Italian curly escarole, tuma sheep cheese, cherry tomatoes and salted anchovies. I will share with you the recipe I learned from my partner's family coming from Messina, a real treat! At the end of the preparation you will taste the focaccia together with a glass of wine or with ice cold beer as tradition dictates.

- We had an incredible night and the food was the best we had throughout our entire trip in Sicily! Thank you!
- Our family had a private lunchtime cooking class with Alice and Francesco and we all agree that it was the highlight of our time in Palermo and something we will not forgot. Alice’s home is a sanctuary from the busy and hot streets of the city. We learnt how to make a delicious 3 course Sicilian meal using seasonal ingredients and cannot wait to try out the recipes again ourselves. I highly recommend Alice and Francesco’s cooking classes!!
- We had the most incredible experience cooking with Alice! She was warm and inviting and we had such a lovely time learning new recipes.
- Our evening making pasta in Alice and Francesco's home was amazing! They were knowledgeable and patient teachers and the meal they created was amazing! Highly recommended!
- I booked this pasta making class for myself, my husband, 2 kids and their spouses. We had the best time making 2 different types of pasta and our own personal tiramisu. This class was in our host's personal home. Alice and her partner (sorry can't remember his name) were so welcoming, genuine and so nice. We had a lot of fun with them. Once all the pasta was cooking and the tiramisu was chilling, they set us up in their living room with appetizers and Italian wine. We all sat down at their dining room table and had a delicious feast of the 2 different types of pasta, one with a pesto sauce and the other with a ragu sauce served with Prosecco. The fresh pasta and sauce were out of this world delicious. The tiramisu we made was wonderful. If you're ever in Palermo and find yourself with some extra time, I would highly recommend taking this pasta class with Alice. We booked this class through Viator.
