Cooking class: learn how to cook traditional & innovative Italian recipes from a local Cesarina

Shared Experience
Your experience
  • Tagliatelle with meat sauce
  • Tortelloni with butter and sage
  • Tiramisu
  • Mountain tigelle and mortadella

Would you like to learn how to make fresh pasta and tiramisu? I will welcome you into my home for an authentic experience, full of tradition, conviviality and family flavours.

We will start with a typical aperitif: warm tigelle montanare with Mortadella Bologna and local wine, to get to know each other and toast together. Then we will get our hands dirty preparing fresh pasta from scratch, just like the 'zdore' (traditional Bolognese housewives) used to do. I will teach you how to knead and roll out the dough with a rolling pin, and together we will make handmade tagliatelle and tortelloni. We will finish by preparing the classic tiramisu, then sit down at the table and enjoy everything we have created. A cooking class suitable for everyone, even the little ones, to learn and savour the recipes of our tradition.

What an absolutely unforgettable experience my wife and I had in Bologna! We had the the most wonderful evening with and incredible mother and daughter duo who welcomed us into their beautiful home like we were part of the family. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, intimate, and filled with laughter, amazing food and flowing Lambrusco. We had so much fun learning how to make traditional Sfoglia by hand and turning it into several fresh pastas that we later enjoyed together for dinner. Every step felt authentic, personal, and full of love and tradition. They were so patient, kind, and passionate about sharing their family recipes and cooking techniques with us. We learned so much throughout the evening, and the recipes they shared are something are something we will truly treasure forever. We cannot wait to recreate all of the dishes including the incredible dessert once we get back home. This is an absolute must do experience in Bologna especially with this fantastic pair. If you want a genuine heartfelt, and delicious taste of Italian family culture, this is it. Grazie Mille for such a magical night we will never forget. Big Hug!

What an incredible experience. Beautiful home, beautiful family, and an unforgettable evening. They welcomed us warmly and even showed us how to cook traditional dishes, which made the experience so special and personal. The food was absolutely spectacular from beginning to end, and the dessert was outstanding. Beyond the amazing meal, their personalities and hospitality truly made the night memorable. Highly recommended and something we will never forget.

My wife and I had a great experience making pasta and eating it. We also made tiramisu. Catherina and her mother were wonderful hosts and were very patient. We had different levels of experience with pasta making and Catherina was very good in explaining and helping making both tagliatelle and tortoloni. They were very personable and it was a nice in-home experience. We highly recommend Catherina.

It was a warm and authentic cooking class. Caterina and her mother are very kind people. It felt like being at home. The best tagliatelle I have ever eaten.

My name is Caterina, and I’m from Bologna, with deep roots in the Apennine Mountains. Growing up surrounded by traditional recipes and mountain flavors, I learned the secrets of cooking from my great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother. Since I was little, making tigelle, crescentine, and tortellini, I discovered my passion for kneading and creating with my hands. Even my father taught me how to roll pasta, because in our family tradition is shared. Cooking has always been my refuge, a place of creativity and joy, even during university. Today, between my studies and cooking courses, I continue to nurture this passion. My dream is to open my kitchen to share my family’s flavors and the joy of tradition.
