Cooking class: learn how to cook traditional & innovative Italian recipes from a local Cesarina

Shared Experience
Your experience

Just a stone’s throw from the portico leading to the Sanctuary of San Luca, in a bright apartment with a usable terrace, I invite you to a cooking class dedicated to gnocchi. Together, we will prepare potato gnocchi, served both with the classic Bolognese ragù and with a surprising sweet topping, as is traditional in Veneto, my homeland. We will end on a sweet note with the classic tiramisu. Simple, convivial recipes, all ready to enjoy. Laurina, the Cesarina, is waiting for you to cook and eat together!

My husband and I had the best time learning to make pasta with Laura in her home. She showed us how to make 3 different pastas and then served them all differently which was so fun. We loved getting to know her and felt so welcomed into her home. Her home is a nice stroll from city center in a beautiful residential area. She gave us all the recipes of everything we ate which we look forward to trying to recreate now that we are back home. We highly recommend Laura’s private cooking class.

We had a fantastic experience! Laura was a wonderful host and teacher! We felt very welcome and at ease in her home. We made 3 kinds of pasta. Potato tortellini, maccheroni carbonara & farfalle salsiccia. Then she cooked the pasta. Added a few other ingredients. And we sat at her table and enjoyed fresh pasta and wine together. I would like to do this again.

Cooking like my grandmother! I made tortellini with Laura. First, choose quality ingredients: flour and semolina. Then, mix the dough with the eggs, roll it out, and cut it into squares (as small as possible). Finally, form the tortellini (around the index finger of your right hand) and close them with your thumb. It’s important they were tortellini and not “Papa’s cappelletti.” Laura cooks with heart and soul – like my grandmother, who was Italian. In the end, my tortellini were truly real tortellini. I passed the masterclass in tortellini. I’m proud of myself! Thank you so much, Laura!

We had an amazing time! We cooked a stuffed pasta balanzoni and tagliatelle then got to eat both! In addition to that we made tiramisu! It was all delicious. But beyond the food we had such an authentic time with our host. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to learn to make pasta and be with a local and enjoy their company.

Laura was such a great host, teacher, and chef. Her husband was there to help assist with some cook, cleaning, hosting, and taking photos, and her friend was also there to help with some light translation, though Laura spoke English very well, anyway. My partner and I learned how to make three pastas (technically five because tagliatelle goes by different names when it's shorter) in two hours and ate all three in a big lunch on their beautiful balcony. We had such a great experience and a memory we will not only cherish, but can use to make dinner at home. Whenever are back in Bologna, we will definitely be back to learn how to make dessert with Laura!

I love cooking risottos, tagliatelle with ragù, carbonara, seafood pastas, as well as meat and fish prepared in different ways, and of course gratin vegetables and various desserts. I’m originally from Veneto, so I can also make baccalà, sweet gnocchi, and other delicacies typical of my region. I also enjoy “borrowing” recipes from other parts of Italy, especially Milanese risotto.
