Federica

The restoration of paintings and frescoes is my profession, but my true passion is cooking. The attention to detail required in my work is the same precision I bring to my handmade pasta—tagliatelle, lasagne, tortellini, and tortelloni—all rigorously prepared with fresh dough rolled by hand using a rolling pin.My specialty is ragù alla Bolognese, while for main courses, I love preparing traditional dishes from my region, Emilia-Romagna, such as roasts and meatballs. Vegetables are always present on my table, often with a touch of Neapolitan influence, which also inspires me to prepare some delicious seafood dishes. The view from my home, just outside the center of Bologna and near the Portico di San Luca, is simply breathtaking—I look forward to welcoming you to admire it together!

Fantastic experience with Frederica! The ragu we ate with her was our tastiest meal in Bologna! We came to Bologna to learn to make ragu and this experience didn't disappoint. Frederica was very welcoming, taught us all the steps in her home, and created a lovely ambience with music and even prosecco & delicious cheese and preserves to snack on. We enjoyed chatting with her as we cooked and learning more about Italian culture. We'd recommend this to anyone visiting Bologna! :)

Fredrica was an incredible teacher and host. It was a truly authentic (and delicious!) experience for me and my 19-year-old son. Highly recommend!

Federica was a great host in her home. It was just the two of us with her and another Cesarine chef. We spent nearly 4 hours together learning some classic recipes and had a great time. We would highly recommend adding a class to your Bologna experience.

Wonderful experience. Federica welcomed us into her home, guiding us with her expertise and simplicity to discover typical Bolognese dishes. Her lasagna was so good that even our one-year-old daughter ate it. Federica was very accommodating in welcoming us into her home along with her little one.

Federica is a kind and experienced teacher and chef. I took my 2 children ages 18 and 12 and by far this was our favorite activity on our adventure in Italy. Federica has a beautiful and comfortable home. We learned how to make 4 different types of gnocchi and tagliatelle and enjoyed eating them as well. The instruction and recipes are both fun and easy to follow. We look forward to making these dishes at home for our friends and family.
