Cooking class: learn how to cook traditional & innovative Italian recipes from a local Cesarina

Shared Experience
Your experience
  • Potato gnocchi with two different sauces

An invitation to step into a home kitchen where hands are busy and time slows down. Through this experience, we want to introduce you to an iconic dish deeply rooted in Italian culinary tradition. It’s so popular that a whole day of the week is dedicated to it – Thursday, to be precise. A hearty dish traditionally prepared on ‘Meatless Friday’. Don’t be surprised – it’s a type of pasta made with flour and potatoes. Italians are full of imagination. We’ll be making classic potato gnocchi in two shapes and serving them with two different sauces depending on the season. At the end, we’ll taste what we’ve made, not forgetting a good glass of wine. We look forward to welcoming you to our home, in the city centre, near the Vatican.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about our cooking experience with Nicolette and Stefania! From the moment we stepped into their home, we felt like we were being welcomed by old friends. Their warmth, hospitality, and attention to every detail made the entire experience so special. And the spectacular view was just the icing on the cake! We had so much fun learning to make three different types of pasta—orichiete, tagliatelle, and pici . Nicolette and Stefania were incredibly patient and intentional with their instructions, making everything easy to follow and enjoyable. The sauces they prepared were absolutely exceptional, using the simplest ingredients. It was such a wonderful reminder that good food doesn’t need to be complicated. But what made this experience truly memorable went far beyond the cooking. We shared stories about family, culture, traditions, and all the similarities that connect us, despite living worlds apart. There was so much laughter and genuine conversation. My husband, who had never taken a cooking class before, said this was the best part of our entire vacation in Italy! And I couldn’t agree more. We arrived as guests, but I genuinely feel we left as friends. Nicolette and Stefania gave us so much more than a cooking lesson. They gave us a beautiful memory that we’ll carry home with us. If you’re visiting Rome, I cannot recommend this experience enough. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip! ❤️
