Cooking class: learn how to cook traditional & innovative Italian recipes from a local Cesarina
Shared Experience
Your experience
- Carciofi alla giudia
- Fried artichokes
- Roman-style artichokes
- Pasta with artichokes
I look forward to welcoming you to share an experience dedicated to the artichoke, the king of Roman cuisine. In Rome, you simply must try this delicacy.
There are no secrets to this extraordinary winter vegetable: where to buy it, how to choose it, how to clean it and how to cook it. We’ll also explore the history of the artichoke. Discovering the artichoke will be a journey through the flavours of traditional Roman cuisine. We’ll prepare them in the most traditional ways – ‘alla Romana’, ‘alla Giudia’ and fried – but also as part of a pasta dish to bring out their flavour to the full. The artichoke will be a surprise for you, a gourmet vegetarian dish. Anyone who’s tried this experience wants to come back soon to do it all over again!

- Marco and his wife were so welcoming and helpful. The cooking class was enjoyable and fun. The food was so delicious, so happy. We got to do this cooking class in Rome. Would highly recommend anybody to take Marco's cooking classes.
- We had the BEST time with Marco and Michela! They were so welcoming and kind, and it was fun to see a different side of Rome than most tourists see. It was a blast making dinnet with them, and their easy to follow instructions and tools made us feel like master chefs, Dinner turned out fantastic (if I do say so myself!) and we have a great dinner sitting on their balcony enjoying the weather. Their place is a little off the beaten path but completely accessible by metro or taxi. In fact, on our taxi ride home, we got some cool photos of monuments we’d have never come across otherwise! This was the highlight of our trip, and we can’t recommend them enough!
- This night alone made our trip to Italy everything we had hoped for! From the moment we were greeted with champagne and Italian snacks, Marco’s cooking class felt like being welcomed into an Italian home with friends. Marco’s skill made cacio e pepe feel like an art form, yet simple enough to recreate, and having his wife Ida (an expert guide) share hidden gems of Rome was the icing on the cake. We laughed, we shared stories, and even got to taste Ida’s family’s 1969 liqueur as our free flowing conversations took us later into the evening than planned. It was magical and completely unforgettable, so much so, we’re already planning our return for carbonara!! Thank you both so much for the Italian experience we always dreamed of having!
- I really enjoyed the experience; I appreciated their warm welcome and attention to detail. I tried authentic Roman food prepared in the traditional way, including pasta, panzerotti, and tiramisu. Michaela gave me recommendations for tourist sites. I am very grateful to them for the experience. It was enough that their compensation for changing the appointment on their end when I booked a group class was to give me a private class. I highly recommend it. Michaela offered me Neapolitan cheese as a treat and told me that I have friends here in Rome. I felt lucky to cook using tools that are years old and belonged to Chef Marco's mother; it was an honor for me. I recommend their classes, five stars 💖😃⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- It was a wonderful evening. I met lovely people: Marek and Michalina. And of course, I learned about the art of preparing artichokes in four ways. Today at home I tested one, Marko is a master :)
