Shared Experience
Your experience
  • A selection of cured meats, Parmigiano Reggiano and baked polenta
  • Tagliatelle (homemade pasta) with ragù
  • Caprese cake (for my Neapolitan origins)

I live within walking distance of one of the most evocative and historically rich places in Bologna, the Basilica of Santo Stefano, in one of the most beloved areas of the historic center, both by Bolognese and tourists. I like to let you in on the secrets of my family's recipes. I'm passionate about traditional cooking and love to share it with others. In my cooking class, you will taste the dishes. We will start with a selection of cured meats, Parmigiano Reggiano and roasted polenta, to tell you about the qualities of Emilian products, tagliatelle al ragù, to put your hands in the pasta, and torta caprese, which traces my origins. I look forward to seeing you in my kitchen, where we will have the pleasure of cooking together and sharing this passion of mine that can become yours too!

Oriana is a wonderful and lovely person, a great chef, a passionate teacher, generous and hospitable to open her home to us (17people) teaching us the love for the perfect pasta!! It was an amazing night full of Italian flavours and Oriana has been an amazing host - we all fell in love with her!

Oriana was great company & a great teacher-so generous and fun. We came away with so many tips on making authentic Bolognese dishes & delighted at being made so welcome in her home.

The cooking course was great. Oriana showed us and demonstrated the art of pasta with great enthusiasm and joy. She led our large group (15 people) well and we all had a lot of fun. We had assumed in advance that we would be making a tiramsu. In truth, it was not the case. Oriana prepared it and then we were able to eat it. This doesn't really matter, but it was still a bit disappointing. The timing wasn't that good either. According to the description, it would have been 3 hours. In the end, we were with Oriana for 4.5 hours. To sum up, it was an all-round successful evening and a very instructive course with lots of fun cooking.

As a second generation Italian immigrant, I went back to Italy to visit my roots. First stop was a cooking class. Our chef, Oriana, was amazing! She welcomed us into her home and the fun began immediately! She was friendly, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. We learned new and creative ways to make dough, several types of pasta, and the filling. During the class we were served Lambrusco and wine that paired with the dish, along with delicious cheeses and homemade crackers! We highly recommend this cooking class, Oriana is a gem!

Oriana
Cesarina from 2018Location: Bologna    Languages: Italian and English
Oriana, our Cesarina, lives within walking distance of one of the most historically rich and picturesque places in Bologna, the Basilica di Santo Stefano.  Here, in one of the most beloved areas of the historic town, by both Bolognese and tourists, Oriana introduces us to her family: Salvatore, her husband, and their four children that they love to pamper by cooking them healthy meals, while passing on the family recipes. Oriana is originally from Naples, but living in Bologna, she has learned how to make sfoglia, the typical local pasta, and ragù alla Bolognese. She delights in choosing the best cuts of meat to prepare her excellent bollito, or boiled meat, and for the smallest of her daughters, a lover of tortellini, she cooks this local pasta strictly in meat broth.
